Glad I could make you laugh. Always wanted some of these chips, so I figured I'd try. Single chips, sample set, whatever I can get my hands on.

And no, I am not French, but I did forget to put deodorant on this morning. :p

Kidding - I love all my European chippers. Thanks all!

When these were released originally, was it just kind of inside knowledge in France? Any French chippers know the story about how sets were acquired? Seems like the majority of these chips are still in Europe?

I think it’s one of those sets that the info is out there but those that know kind of keep it on the DL. I’m curious too but I don’t know if anyone will come forward.

better make us laugh with a virtual WANTED classified than f**k up our minds with a virtual FOR SALE :)

A bunch of French chippers chipped in and purchase them all during auction.
Close. I think it was just two French chippers -- @semsallem and @<°)))><) -- who bought the ceramic and Paulson tourney sets at auction (plus some B&G jetons and other miscellaneous stuff), and then sold off smaller sets -- but only to other French chippers. Apparently none of the cash set chips were available at auction.

Yes that's pretty much it :)
There was an old agreement among a group of French chippers (pretty much from the moment when the ACF shut its doors) that the paulsons would be split amongst the community. They were the holy grail and we didnt want a bidding war.
We were lucky to get other ACF sets along with the paulsons : the sunfly ceramics, the BG traditional jetons and the old plastic tourney chips. Unfortunately, the cash game set was seized by the police and will probably never surface again.

To my knowledge there are around 25 to 27 Paulson sets available. I do not know exactly how many ceramic sets. Probably around 30 something.
Denominations for Paulson’s are 5 25 100 500 1000 5000 20000. 5 25 25000 being quite scarce, 1000 on the contrary numerous.

These chips are highly desirable as ACF was a mythical place for all French poker players (and international players visiting France) were used in a wsop event.

It is very unlikely that any of the actual owners would let go his set unless forced to do so.
Some times a go a chipper offered 5000€ on a French forum without success, he then offered for a very brief period of time 10000€ and retracted.

It seems some sample set were created however and were passed on, even though I have no confirmed info on this. Similarly it is very probable that some spare 1000 denom chips were offered to fellow collectors and friends outside the group among which to foreign chipbuddies.

As a French collector this set is most certainly the “crème de la crème”, in other words some kind of holly graal.

There are projects, to get produced a copy of these as custom chips, or add on chips. If anybody is interested I guess now is the time...

In all cases, I wish you to put your hands on one of these sets one day.
Until then, I am sure that you can have someone invite you for a play with these on your next trip to France.

From an unconfirmed source here are the numbers of chips available by denomination
25k x 600 ; 10k x 1000 ; 5k x 1600 ; 1k x 5600 ; 500 x 3200 ; 100 x 4700 ; 25 x 2500 ; 5 x 1000

I think that's the only the second time I've seen two racks of T25s together in one place. Very scarce.
