I have always thought it would be neat to have a monthly or bimonthly podcast that I could listen to when I'm in my car to get me up to speed on all the latest chipping news and exciting projects.

It could include segments like:
  • Set of the month
  • Latest group buy updates
  • Industry news
  • Hottest deal in the classifieds
  • Which sets are diamonds in the rough
  • Value sets for the new chipper
  • Reviews
  • Previews
  • Bad beat of the month
  • Great poker stories
  • The Martha Stewart of Poker section that tells you how to make a poker chip cosy
  • Poker chip price trends
  • New member introductions
  • Special guest appearances
  • Live bands
  • And much much more

I'm actually kinda working on something like that. Have all the equipment from prior projects. Just need the time to get it kicked off.

@H|Q & @guinness - I think the 3 of us would contribute to a lively guest session (after the requisite amount of alcohol)....

I bet you do, after all you are the funniest guy you know. ;) (or was it third funniest, can't remember)

I am a podcast junkie, I would definitely listen and give it a try, but I am also a realist and know exactly how hard broadcasting and putting out an entertaining product is. I've been a fan of radio (and now podcasting) for a long time, it's a very hard thing to do well, and while these kinds of things are enticing because of the low barrier to entry (some people record podcasts on their cell phone ) putting together a consistently enjoyable product is a bitch. I wish all the luck to whoever wants to do this, I would definitely download it and give a listen!!!

i struggle putting out an email to a few hundred people every month that can be as short as i need it to be....sounds easy but after the first year it can get somewhat difficult making it entertaining...

It's why I don't rag on things like Saturday Night Live or the nightly shows that used to be more popular than they are now (feels that way anyway), it's real hard to be funny/entertaining/engaging on a case by case basis and its real real real hard to do it consistently and new. Take for instance the Saturday Night Live sketches that were posted recently, peoples "favorites" are repeated many times. The Norm Macdonald Weekend Update clips about Michael Jackson come to mind, funny for sure, but just to pick out one there was a joke repeated three times with just the people it was referring to changed, otherwise they all ended with "and I'm really a 9 year old boy.". Regarded by some as the high point of tv comedy and jokes are repeated from season to season, the best writers money can buy gets you unoriginal content sometimes...to tackle that as an amateur is daunting, I respect anybody who would give it a go (podcasting for a PCF related show) and I will support it 100%, but damn it's a big mountain to climb.

I'd be a guest speaker. I could talk about how long my beard is getting and how much the wife hates it.

Furthermore, consistently putting together a product is a challenge in and of itself. The amount of casts that adhere to a regular schedule throughout their first year - or any year for that matter - is difficult enough, regardless of the quality.

If I hosted, is anyone interested in co-hosting with me? Or possibly just having a series of periodic guest co-hosts?

How good is the equipment needed to be a guest? You'd be able to have guests from anywhere if the mic and cam was good enough? Definitely be cool to watch if there were some guest from all over.

Probably, depending on latency. I don't do vlogs so camera is irrelevant, but it helps *immensely* to have a good mic. I've also done call-ins over the phone via Skype as well.

Yeah I think Skype would work, you definitely run into breaking up robot talkonce in a while and if one, both, or all people involved in the Skype call don't understand the latency issue and not to talk over each other in can turn into too much stepping on each other...but many successful podcasts use Skype as a way to bring guests to the show.

ok so that would what about 4 minutes?....not the program director but that could be the opener.....then <crickets>.... :ROFLMAO:.

then just start raggin on the new posts at PCF.....and you could always just stir alot of shit up like jerry springer....without the obligatory chair throwing to the face

I could throw a chair into my own face if it would help the show.

I can guest and talk about all kinds of interesting things. Soccer, jazz, cigars, raising children, politics, space travel, blueberry muffins, what happens when you mix water and vinegar, etc. Hell, I can even pretend to know a thing or two about poker chips. I love the idea and will gladly help out anyway that I can. I'm sure there are a few vendors that would be willing to sponsor a segment or two.

I'd be down to co-host from time to time. I still have a Camtasia license and a nice microphone from back when I used to make videos for StoxPoker, CardRunners, and PokerStrategy.com.

opens with you telling how your wife hates your beard, she enters and throws a chair in your face, then they bring out the DNA test results.....dam that sounds way to familiar, i think its been done but if she also comes out and starts smashing your ________ chips (enter fav chips) with a hammer....... that is golden, more chairs to the face, then cut to sponsor !!

i hear a Webby in the future for PCF podcast!! (is that what a webby is?)

:coffee::coffee:

Along these lines, is there a possibility of a PCF iPhone app?

Considering we've been tossing the idea around for a couple years, I think it's about time to do something.

We'd need guests for sure.
I volunteer to be interviewed for a segment called "nit to semi-nit in just 4 years" where I reveal the secrets of opening up your range by 1%.

I volunteer to be interviewed for the WTF segment where we introduce new tasteless memes and other inappropriate shit that will likely offend 75% of the members in the community. Guest panel would include @jbutler, @SixSpeedFury, and myself.

To be truly authentic, halfway through the podcast Chicken starts talking to one of us at his house and ignores the podcast for at least 15 minutes.

I'd like to talk about the time Guinness walked into my screen door and why day old room temp tuna salad is bad.

Actually, I have some funny poker room stories to tell.

This was my plan all along...
