Chanman aka Tony's basic tables start at about 440 USD (plus shipping).
I strongly recommend just going this route rather than buying a topper.
I went the topper route myself, realized it was crap, resold it on the local classifieds and proceeded to take half a year or so to save up for Tony's table.
I would sell all of my chips before I sold my basic table. They are that good.
Can you be more specific on the topper you are calling crap. I don't recall you buying a PCF topper which is not like the ones readily available on eBay and Amazon.
The feedback on the PCF toppers has been mostly positive.

Not knocking the PCF toppers I have no experience with those. Most of what I have seen on Amazon/eBay looks similar to what I bought from Straight Poker Supplies...and seem crappy.

Those toppers your referring to are crap and nothing like the PCF topper. The PCF topper is great an opinion shared by many others. I have 2 of them that are used for overflow and consider it money well spent.
Sounds like @Lemonzest is talking about table toppers made of wood, that fold in half.
Everyone else, including the OP is referring to the rubber mat which was a PCF group buy and has received a thumbs up from anyone that's used it.
Perhaps we shouldn't be calling it a topper but that's what people are calling it. Much like Yakamas should be called Legends but...
