Looking for some opinions on these chips. I was originally going with the Pharaoh's chips (1,000 chip set), but the more I look at the CPS chips I'm starting to sway my opinion. Just looking for some other opinions before I make a decision.

Thanks!

I think it really depends on two things:

1. which chip do you like best -- not only in looks, but in terms of feel and sound
2. do you have a need for the high denominations (only found in CPS chips)

Short answer: get samples.

You really should get samples before dropping the coin on 1000 of either (if you don't already). What opinions are you looking for?

Welcome :)

Answer is easy if you have samples. The feel is totally different IMHO.

Thanks. Samples of both are on their way, just wondering if anyone has opinions that has sets of one or both.

Opinions are like arseholes everyone got one :)

But most will probably tell you to choose your favorite.

I had/have both, and liked/like both - although for different reasons.

All i can tell you is don't order samples of mint casino Paulson chips.

I recently acquired a 1000+ set of both.

If you had to choose based on an opinion alone (mine), go with Pharaohs. I love them both but the nice square edges and smooth surface of the Pharaohs just feels nicer than the cross hatching on the CPS chips.

Additionally, the molds for the Pharaohs and edge spots are so unique and interesting.

The cross hatching is ok and I don't have issues shuffling with it but some do.

Honestly, get samples. But if you are super impatient like me and throw money around because you can't wait to feel them, I understand and would get Pharaohs.

I would go Pharaohs if it were between the two. Reason 1. Different edgespots. 2. The look. 3. The feel.
You will see that with the CPS chips the crosshatched surface is so aggressive that the chips don't actually stack face to face but rather stack with each "grain" falling into the cross-space of the one below.
There is also a third option. One that is far and away better than either two above. Wait a couple weeks and order some Majestics from Apache!

I am waiting for someone to review the Majestic set. It looks real interesting.

I agree the majestics look sweet. I just wish they had different edgespots per denom like the pharaohs.

Based on my own limited experience (have samples of both) - love the edge spots and progression of the Pharaohs, BUT the colours are a bit drab. Compare to the Bang! Kerpoww! Splat! of the CPS chips.

Pharaohs are a little cheaper though. Theyll also be easier to keep clean, as the cross-hatching of the CPS chips attracts and holds grime like nothing else.

I love em both, but the drabness of the higher Pharaohs denoms pushes me towards the CPS...

Played in a league game last night with the CPS set. The colors are really beautiful.

Is the timing on the majestics really a few weeks? Also, what is the price point expected to be compared to CPS/Pharaohs? Although generally impatient I could probably wait a few weeks to see the Majestics.

Josh @ Apache said they had landed in LA a few days ago and they're just clearing customs, so it shouldn't be very long at all.

My hope is that this mold will be used down the road on future offerings making different edgespots possible for custom sets. It just seems the logical way to head...

I have samples of both, and also samples of Milanos. I was really taken aback by the cross hatching on the CPS chips. The colors are great and they look good in pictures, but the cross hatching would make me lean towards the Pharaohs. Although for me, the Milanos still win out of the three. You should grab samples of those too, FWIW. I would already have a set of Milanos, but waiting to sample the Majestics.

It all boils down to your needs and preferences. For me, the smaller inlay and feel of the Milanos wins out, but I like different things about each of them. I would ultimately be happy with the CPS, especially if I ran a multi table tourney and needed the high denominations.

I love the CPS color palette and inlays (overall design is great), but definitely prefer the Pharaohs in feel, shape (edges), and shuffling. Overall I'd rather have a set of Pharoahs, but based on visual/design alone, I prefer CPS (slightly -- they are both cool sets).

OK...received samples of both CPS & Pharaohs.

First glance visually I like the color "pop" of the CPS chips. I've gone back and forth on whether I really like the hatching. I don't DISLIKE it, but I don't know that it makes these a must have set. The one thing that I think might be deal breaker is the $100/$500 chips...they look too similar, and to add insult to injury I really like the $100 Pharaoh chip.

The Pharaoh chips are just flat out solid....design, colors, edge spots. Nothing overly "wow" that grabs you right off the bat, but the longer I look at them, the more I appreciate them. Probably can't go wrong with either set, but after a day of having the samples I think I'm moving toward the Pharaohs.

Those stinkin' Milano chips have labels.

Forgive my green and inaccurate choice of words. :) However, help me out; what do you call the recessed part of the chip where the label goes? The Milanos have a smaller recessed area than the Pharaoh's and CPS chips, which is really what I was referring to. I like more chip than label/inlay/whatevs.

I felt this way, too. However, in the sample set, they don't send you any cash chips. If you look online at the $500 chip, it is, IMO, sufficiently different than either 100/$100 chip. If you aren't OCD, you could sub the $500 chip into a tourney set. :)

Edit: I see that same color being used for the 100,000 chip. I guess that presents a problem if you want to go that high.

You think you can also order blank lavender chips and T500 labels, and apply them yourself.

Most people call it the chip recess. Chips that take adhesive labels have a molded recess (so the applied label lies below the top level of the chip surface, and won't rub or cause stacking issues).

The surface of chips that have inlays are typically flat (although some do have a shallow recess) -- the printed inlays are placed above and below the chip in a mold, and both sides are pressed into the softened chip material using extreme heat and pressure, becoming a part of the chip itself.

To my knowledge, the CPS labels can't be ordered separately anymore. That would be best answered by Apache or PGI. One alternative would be to order T5 or T100k and swap labels with the T500s.

Straight from the horse's mouth (Palm Imports) on 4th Nov (email re CPS labels):
labels are .05 ea in increments of 25pc per std denomination plus shipping
Very cool. Me likey.
