Hey guys, I've been poking around here a lot lately throwing out useless messages to get that post count up while defaulting to the much more knowledgeable here and thought I'd finally introduce myself.

I'm Andrew from Phoenix and I'm 27. I started looking for a better set of poker chips in about January when I built my table and quickly learned that it was right in the middle of the craziest time for the market. I was probably 2 or 3 days away from settling for a big set of Majestic CC's and saving up for CPC's when I got a random email from some poker chip forum I signed up to a couple months prior that there was a Paulson Pre-Sale happening in a couple of days (I'm still not sure exactly why I got that email, no posts, no watched threads). I took a look at the mockups and figured I had better act quick when the sale opened up, and I checked out of the Horseshoe sale with about 500 of my first Paulsons. I've had this forum up on a tab ever since and try to toss around my ideas when I can.

When I'm not sitting in front of my computer waiting for poker chips to show up or on the mountain snowboarding in winter I'm playing baseball year round here in baseball paradise.

Welcome to PCF!

We send out an occasional email when we have special giveaways or if a big chip sale is going on.
This option is most likely checked in your settings. Sounds like it helped you get your first Paulson though. (y)

Welcome aboard. There goes all of your retirement money. Paulsons definitely set the hook and keep you coming back for more chips.

Nah, I've got it under control. I just need to add on to this set, and get a bigger tourney set with proper denominations, and then design a custom cash and tourney set, and you've got to play with some custom ceramics every now and then to keep yourself honest, and the pink Casablancas are a favorite of mine so I'll get a full set of those, and I grew up in Missouri and the St. Joe green and brown $1's look great so I need a full set of Terrible's. I'll be fine.

My journey started with an old Casino used set. I have bought and sold chips and have now settle in to a few sets. My go to sets are Tropicana second editions and a mixed vegas set. My low limit game uses some old vegas fracs and flamingo $1's along with some newly acquired Nevada hotel 5's. I primarily play and host cash but recently ordered a set of tourney chips that we put together here named Atlantic Club I also purchased some Horseshoe chips to add another cash set in the rotation. I have been purchasing racks of vegas chips for use in other sets.
As you can see I do not have a problem either. In fact you will find many of us here that do not have the same problem.

Grats and Welcome! You can't go wrong buying your first set from a Chip Room sale. Lots of us have been down that road with the biggest regret not buying enough chips.

I am not bashful. I have more than my share of chips. Not as many as the biggest hordes, but enough that I can play for months and never use the same set twice.

However, I do not have enough -=- DrStrange

Glad to see an introduction! Welcome! Wonderful thing about message boards is everyone that creates a thread wants responses not just from 'experts' so don't shy away just because you think someone else might know more!!!

I'll see you around!

My first set of chips was a 500 set of Tukwilas I bought on eBay from the chiproom.

Still have those, and about 20k more...

2008 - it's under control

Welcome !

We need lots of close ups of your family prOn, great looking !

Well my family's all in Missouri, but next time they're in town I can...ask?

;) I'm actually more interested in seeing Moose's table legs bracing under all that!

Welcome!
What league are you playing baseball in? I played in college, and after school played in the adult leagues until my 30's. I don't miss the preparing to play, or the long days at the field, but I do miss taking some hacks in the batter's box!

Did you play in the adult leagues here in Phoenix? I know some of the guys that have been doing this for years haha. I'm in the MSBL during summer and NABA when the tournaments are right and the Tempe league through the winter

I did the NABA in Colorado. Really they are the only option in CO. We don't have as many options as you do in AZ. One team I was on for 2-3 years played a few NABA tourneys. We would play the Denver, 4th of July tourney every year, and one year we played the Memorial Day Tourney in Vegas! We didn't do so great in that one, i think the fellas were a little "distracted".
