Tourney PLO with Random Double Board (1 Viewer)

I'm planning a PLO tourney in DEC. Slow structure, 20 minute blinds, double stack freeze out (haven't decided 100% if it'll be a freeze out or rebuy tourney).

For a twist. I want to incorporate a double board option (not every hand double board).

I've been thinking about different ways to do this. Thoughts?

1. Search for a random timer and set it to go off once an hour.

2. Every blind level change

3. Every 60 minutes of game play

4. Give everyone a token. They can use it whenever they want to deal out a double board. Has to be announced prior to dealing the first card. Once they use their token its gone and they can't call it again.

Any other suggestions?

We play a few game variants where if the As hits the board at any point then the twist happens. Adds some randomness to it, but still averages out to 7 or 8% of the time.

I'm really leaning towards trying number 4 the more I think about. There could be some strategy in when you use the token. You get short stacked? near the bubble? Early on to get things flowing? Granted using it doesn't mean it will work out for the use of the token. Would be fun none the less.

I'm thinking that if there is more than one pot to be awarded. Pausing the clock only at the conclusion of the hand, and only to chop/award multiple pots.

If you play music run a double board every time a certain artist or song comes up? Might want to customize your playlist so that it's not just once that the song/artist plays. You could also insert 5 or 10 different genre songs into your playlist (for example if you listen mostly to rock, add in 10 rap songs) and when one of them comes up you run the double board. With music you could also run double boards for as many hands as you play during that song.
