Per the mail pr0n thread of 2020, the debate has been brought forward between @BGinGA and @HaRDHouSeiNC to determine the historical term used, chipes. And the new generation trying to turn us on to chibes.

What do the masses think? Will chibes catch on? Is chipes too historically written in?

Well now we have the opportunity to know!

WTF is a chibe?
I agree, and in before "OK Boomer".

For the love of God, "chips" or the marginally acceptable "chippies"!

I voted for chippies, but mostly because Chippy was a friend's nickname in college. Chibe sounds like it could be a tribal affiliation. Or an action verb. Like "Chibe 0n".

Just like toys for children, people should be allowed to destroy (any) language only if they can fix it after having had fun (and very few can, worldwide).

@Coyote does this in any way contemplate chip murder? Full inlay removal and replacement seems like it would fit nicely into the paradigm you've created for us here.

Ch'ibs, according to the Wade-Giles guide for pronunciation when translating from the Mandarin to the simplified romanization form. Or am I somehow off base here?

No Berny. It may not be a home run, but it might be a base hit. I would say that it was at least a walk or a bunt.

Chibes is easily the most interesting choice, and it seems like it's got some roots from the blue wall, that predate most of us.

FWIW, maybe we should also consider Chibs. After all, this dude was in both Braveheart and Gladiator.

Given this definititon, perhaps chibs would be a more appropriate name for chips that have been murdered, slashed or otherwise defaced.

Um, "chipes"? Can I have that used in a sentence please?
Judge: When you arrived to PCF, you had no idea how badly you would catch the chipes.

When I see the word "chipes" I read it with pronunciation "cheaps", which is about the last thing this hobby is  :ROFLMAO:
