How did I do for someone who is not crafty whatsoever and hasn't built a damn thing from complete scratch since 8th grade shop class? Standard 8ft table with a suede rail. It's not perfect but it's sturdy!
That’s an ambitious first project post 8th grade. Well done.
As I’m sure you’ve learned the rail is the hardest part. Don’t be afraid to take out some staples and re-staple some areas. You’ll be surprised with the results. The suede settles in as you as you’re stapling and in my experience it’s an art form getting it right the first time.

Thanks! I built a single shelf in 8th grade. This was def harder. Def makes me excited to work on it a little more or just build a second one all together.

I followed the instructions from buildyourownpokertable.com but just be warned the instructions could be better in terms of distinguishing which pieces of wood are what after you cut. I got to a point where it was time to do the foam and playing surface and ended up covering the smaller oval which is just to discard (you can see it in my picture off to the side). My fault but the directions could have been a little clearer too.
I found, in my experience, you can get all the foam, vinyl, suede, etc from JoAnn fabric for less $$$ at equal or higher quality. The speed cloth I got from Amazon. I picked a soft one too. They have some that are stiff and basically require you to steam them forever since they come folded not rolled. I bought a lot of different options and returned what i didn't end up using.
Was a really fun project and did it all solo. For someone who has zero woodworking experience it felt like a great accomplishment and cannot wait to play some home games on it. Best of luck to you!
