UPDATE: SADLY, I'VE JUST LEARNED THAT OPTION B IS NOT AN OPTION :( I WILL HAVE TO RUN THE THREAD AGAIN...

I have some Yosemite Inn chips heading my way (thanks @JFCJ) and I'm planning to make some $1s to go along with them as tracking down the originals almost certainly isn't going to happen, so I'll be doing some gear inlay replacements instead.

Which option do you like best? My favorite option is by far the most difficult and expensive one, so I'm hoping to be convinced to go a different route, haha. Also, feel free to point me to other options (y)

Note: This is what the original set looks like:

And here are the options I've come up with so far...

Option A:

Option B:

NOT AN OPTION :(

Option C:

Option D:

Option E:

I voted Option B but I like Option A almost as much.

Option A would certainly be the easiest to source and probably the most cost effective.

It's option B for me and it's not close.

D and E both offer progression, but I wouldn't be able to say no to the same/similar base color and spot pattern as the original which B offers.

B for me as well. C has the brown going for it, but progression-wise it doesn't make much sense and just looks out of place despite the color fitting well.

Option B is also my favorite, but it has a pretty big problem, which is that the inlay is one of the old school ones that are extremely difficult to remove, while all the other options would be pretty easy to do... :( option B is also quite a bit more expensive than all the other options...

Hmm... I just thought of this option too... I'm going to swap it out for option F as it would be much easier to do than option B

I think your poll is skewed. The background shown should be the same color you'd play on. The white chips look horrid on a white background... I also think on a darker background, the blue and gray chips will blend together more. On a white background, these chips look to have more contrast than they will in real play.

Although the spots in B are the best, I think C is the closest to maintaining the original look.

to B Travis.... A is ok, but B is best, don't sell anymore chips, keep them in the Bay Area. We must be stingy like France ;)

The big question is the original $1. If there's really no chance of getting them then option B is a clear winner.
If you do find some original $1s, you may wish you had done option C

Oh, I'm keeping PLENTY, trust me  :whistling: my chip wheels are always spinning! :ROFLMAO:

Voted B. I think C or E are both good choices as well, the HSC $1s are the cheapest and most feasible, and I think the progression and colors work, despite not being blue.

I think option A is my least favorite actually, I don't like the solid blue and then a jump to a complex edge spot.

Also, I vote for using the Blaze orange $.50 as a frac :)

Damn! It looks like I had a bit of premature chipulation with option B. I've just been informed that the quantities listed online were inaccurate and that they are not available in quantity :( option B (the clear winner) is not an option after all.

So this thread has been fouled, sorry guys. I will cancel the thread and try again.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Or maybe use some Palais de Congres $10s? But don't tell anyone they are inlay replcements.

Paris $1s? :whistling:

(Not that you'd do it anyway, but I'm kidding. Please don't do that.)

Shhhhhhhhh... I can't let that information out if it comes down to it! lol. This is my secret stash here...

I still like the PdC $10 option best (you would have to turn a scallop inlay into a round inlay though I would think) or your Colorado Belle (even though not sure of availability) cause they have the right spot pattern to fit in. Here's another option:

But just in case you want to go with something slighty different that may work here are a couple more options:

This matches the spot pattern of the $100, which I realize isn't an increasing spot progression, but it follows a pattern of 3/2/2/3 color spots for $1/$5/$25/$100. (IIRC, I have about 120-140 of these blue chips in used condition, but edges are only slightly rounded and chips should stand on edge, although some are warped and would need to be flattened.)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm going to try this poll again now that I've seen some of your recommendations, and once I get confirmation of which chips I can actually get my hands on, and after I see the Yosemites in person so I can see their condition. I dont want to mix mint chips with heavily used either...

That Sam's Town chip looks nice, but I'm worried about having the $5 also having peach edge spots. I'm also leaning toward peach fracs instead of light gray now... Hmm...

I tried mocking up the PdC, I think it will have too much color bleedover with the other chips... thank god! :ROFLMAO:
