Issued 1998. Semi-leaded at minimum IMO. Felt like it when I had $100s.

I'm not sure where it is here but there was a whole thread about this a while back. They're aluminum flakes. Both the $25s and the $100s. They definitely feel heavy, sure.

1998-2002:
Paul-Son starts systematically removing lead content from chip material formulas for all colors. Most were converted by 2002 except for five colors; all were relatively lead-free by 2005. Shaped inlays also started disappearing during this time, and glossy inlay laminates were first introduced (presumably to facilitate new security features).

Hard to know for sure I guess. I mostly go by feel as unleaded is very easy to distinguish and this era of Sterling definitely don't feel like today's unleaded chips.

Just my opinion, but I suspect these are leaded/weighted.
Aluminum flakes were added by Paulson for security, not weight.

Well great news, I just sent one of the Sterling Cruises $25s along for testing at my lab. It'll join one of these T25s for comparison and funsies - I'll be sure to report back and we'll know for sure.
