I know the new trend is having a single BB ante, but I haven’t had the chance to play in too many of these tournaments and I have a few questions.
I assume the T25 chip is now obsolete and that means starting stacks are larger?
What would you say is the starting stack breakdown for starting stacks of 15k/20k/25k?
What would the breakdown be for a 500 chip set, if looking to play single table tournaments?
Thanks
Memphis

How many players? I use T100 for my games with 25k starting stacks starting at 100/100/100. My set can scale up to 50k starting stacks for 30 players and contains 1000 chips.

100: 10 chips
500: 6 chips
1000: 11 chips
5000: 2 chips

We normally get no more than 8 players.

I’m surprised 10 T100 chips per player is enough, I would have thought 15 or 20 T100 would be needed.

For STT up to 10 ppl

400 chip breakdown for T100 are 100/500/1k/5k 150/50/125/75
Starting stack 30k of 15/5/11/3 rest for colour up and rebuy

or

400 chip breakdown for T100 are 100/500/1k/5k 100/60/120/120
Starting stack 50k of 10/6/11/7 rest for colour up and rebuy

For a T100-base set using antes (BB or otherwise), a 15/5/6/x starting stack is superior to the smaller 10/4/7/x version (which works fine for no-ante events).

For 8 players with T30k stacks (15/5/6/4, 150 or 300bb pending starting blinds), you'll need 256 chips:

120 x T100
40 x T500
60 x T1000 (includes 12x for T100 color-up)
36 x T5000 (includes 4x for T500 color-up)

Using 15/5/11/3 stacks (also T30k) bumps up the set to 280 chips:

120 x T100
40 x T500
90 x T1000 (includes 2x for T100 color-up)
30 x T5000 (includes 6x for T100/T500 color-ups)

In either case above, add additional T5000 chips if larger starting stacks and/or re-buys are desired.

A 400-chip set easily covers a 10-player event with larger starting stacks and re-buys:

150 x T100
50 x T500
110 x T1000
90 x T5000 (8x for color-ups and 52x extras)

Depends how many show up. We haven't had 30 so I can adjust the distribution as needed.

OCD perfection and I don't even have OCD ;)
I don't normally do tournaments but I have a lot of people itching to get back after a two year hiatus. I think I'll use your stacks, thanks!

I’m considering getting a set of card molds chips. BB only so no T25 chips. Although our games are normally only single table it seems short sighted to buy a set for just a single table and buying a set capable of two tables is the better option.

If you guys can help me out with these questions it would be a big help.

How many chips do I need for two table tournaments?
What breakdown of those chips?
What starting stacks (for both freeze outs and rebuy tournaments)?
Can you recommend a blind structure?

Thanks guys, any help is greatly appreciated.

If you want to do 2 tables go for a 10/6/6/2 stack (20k). Assuming 10 players per table that’s 200/120/120/40 as starting stacks. With this breakdown you can go ahead and use the 15/5/6/2 stack when you play one table if you want. After the initial 200/120/120/40 it’s just a matter of rebuys and coloring up. At a minimum you’ll need to color up the 100s and 500s which is 80k worth of chips so that’s 16 more 5ks. Each rebuy you’ll need 4 more 5ks. You might want to consider a barrel of 25ks as well if you think you’ll color up the 1ks.

Blind structure really depends on how long you want the tournament to last.
