Here is another attempt at a person who is trying to honk off some high end chips to me AGAIN. His story is that he was gambling at the casino last night and was extremely drunk. Got into a fight in the parking lot. Cops were called. They told he was banned from coming back onto the property and they would charge him with criminal trespass if he returns. So asked if I was interested. I passed solely on I can't prove the chips are mine. They would ask for a players card to track my play. Wouldn't they?

Well, I am young, so please excuse if I am wrong. But you do not NEED a players card to play at a casino? You could claim that you won these months ago and finally just came to cash them in, and you didn’t use/have your players card. I would imagine even with facial recognition software, they couldn’t go back months and months to see if you actually won these chips. I guess if they require a players card and proof of play for cashing out high value chips, then your boned. But by the same logic, does that mean you are not allowed to gift/buy chips from a friend? I have done this multiple times in front of pit bosses and dealers, none have said anything. BUT, I have never been to Vegas, or tried to cash in chips that I found outside of a casino, so what do I know.

If his story true, why not have a friend cash them in for him. I think $5K and above chips may pose an issue for redeeming at the chip cage.

Not even sure his story is true. Maybe he is a pimp and used his trick to steal the chips from a John.

Every casino is different. At our casino, a single $500 chip would have no problem being cashed out. Even a couple thousand worth. However, every $1k chip needs to be verified. Table games is required to call the cage when someone leaves with 1k chips. If we fail to, the cage will call tables to verify who should be cashing them out.

I was literally playing craps at Resorts World 2 days ago. When they cashed me out I asked for yellow 1Ks, but the dealers gave me the purple 500s instead because they said 1Ks are a big hassle to cash out.

They don't care about 500s

1000s are different. I had friends give me yellows to cash out because they had to run to the car and get to the airport, I was on a later flight. The cage calls the table to verify where it came from and I had more than I left the craps table with. Then I had to call my friends who were at the airport and give their player card numbers to the cage before other calls back to the pit and an approval from someone else then it was finally cashed. Giant pain in the ass and about 30 min of me just standing at the cage.

Roundabout way, buy in at a table then take only blacks and purples to the cashier. Never had a problem buying in to any table with chips. I know poker players that keep thousands in chips so they don't have to go to the cage and only cash out the profit they want to take home.
