Straight Flush
I had a reason to drag out my entire TRK Riverside Reno cash set for an updated pr0n shoot: I finally purchased a poker table! Actually, it is a folding table topper custom-built by @T_Chan to fit my elliptical dining table.
The set breakdown is:
190 x .25
300 x $1
1820 x $5
275 x $25
57 x $100
2,642 chips. Bank of $22,022.50.
The original story about this set is HERE.
Now, on to the pr0n, with a surprise at the end...
So...you’re probably thinking “why didn’t Goph lay out the $25s/$100s in-line with the other chips? Is he hiding something under his set?”
Yes. Yes, I am.
My set, obviously, is from the Riverside Hotel and Casino, which took its name from the fact that it was built on the bank of the Truckee River in Reno. As my house is on the bank of the Hudson River, the Riverside name (and set) is quite apropos. I wanted a table worthy of my TRK set and the location.
A while ago, I came across an old picture of the Riverside's marquee--talk about old school goodness! The marquee had everything: mid-century typography, 1950s graphic design, neon-aplenty!
So I used that as inspiration, and enlisted the help of @Johnny5 to bring my idea to pass. With his artistry (and patience), and Tony’s custom gaming suede prowess and outstanding craftsmanship, I was able to duplicate and incorporate the marquee's Riverside typeface and sparkling bulb effect in the felt's center artwork, and I used the swirling ribbon and stars graphic from the marquee as the repeating pattern in the racetrack. My goal was to create a felt that would look right at home in a 1950's/60's Reno casino. The colors were chosen to maximize the contrast to my chip set, as well as to evoke a vintage feel.
I kept this project under wraps, but thanks go to @bentax1978, @Psypher1000, @AfterTheFact, @ChaosRock and @Random Phish for their input and sage advice.
