Hello All,
I recently acquired a set of chips on the Triangle and Clubs Mold. This mold is identified as MD-32 on the Robert Eisenstadt site: http://www.antiquegamblingchips.com/molddesign_suits.htm

Here is the description of the mold from his site:
TRIANGLES AND CLUBS (a/k/a Tri-Clubs) -- triangle and club pip, repeated 12 times. Gambler's General Store, and Langworthy Casino Supply, Inc. -- both of Las Vegas NV, as recently as 1991... this mold is not in use anymore, has not been used to make chips in some 20 years. It was donated to the Nevada Historical Society and is on display there.

These particular chips I believe came from Gambler's General Store. They used to offer custom hotstamp chips... where they would take their blank stock and hotstamp them for customers. These chips appear to be clearly manufactured by ASM. There were a couple www.pokerchipsonline.com chips in the case. I believe these chips were hotstamp mess-ups and/or testing/practice chips. They all have random hotstamps and error hotstamps.

I originally thought I would be able to use this set... but I am afraid the mismatch of hotstamps won't fly with my players.

Since this mold is so unique, I thought the members on PCF might like a sample. However if someone is interested in the entire set, I will entertain offers.

As far as sample sets are concerned... due to the breakdown, I can offer the following:

Sample Set 1 (8 available): One each of Blue, White, Red, Green, Black for $5 +$2 shipping

Sample Set 2 (39 available): One each of Blue, White, Red, Green for $3 +$2 shipping

Sample Set 3 (5 available): 10 red chips for $4 + $3 shipping

Sample Set 4 (13 available): 10 white chips for $4 + $3 shipping

I will hold off on accepting payment and shipping orders until at least half of the chips are spoken for. Reply in this thread if you are interested specifying which sample set and quantity.

If you are interested in the entire set, here is the breakdown:
47x Blue
178x White
98x Red
49x Green
8x Black

Nice vintage chips, Shaggy! Don't come across tri-club chips very often, certainly not in quantity. I only have a few scattered chips in the collection. Would be interested in hearing the backstory on how you came across them.

Pretty sure that all chips on the tri-club mold were produced by Burt Company, prior to JimB's purchase of the assets and starting ASM. Langworthy also sold hot-stamped chips on the tri-club mold. Burt Company never sold hot-stamps, just blanks.

Since this mold is so unique, I thought the members on PCF might like a sample. However if someone is interested in the entire set, I will entertain offers.
I'd be very surprised if @RussB42 isn't interested in obtaining the entire set. He had a bunch of Ewing mold chips at one time, and was looking for another similar mold to pair up with them. The tri-club mold is a very good match, imo.

@BGinGA,
My inlaws were checking out some antique shops in Arizona and came across this set. They sent me a photo and I requested that they purchase it... I would reimburse them of course. It wasn't until after I saw them first hand that I became aware of the hotstamp issues.

Regarding the Gambler's General Store (GGS) correlation. My dad bought a set of their ABS chips back in the late '90's. He said he paid around 50cents a chips for those back then. He knows this because he opted to not buy the quarters and fifty cent chips at GGS. He got Golden Gate quarters and Binion Horseshoe fiddies from the casinos... huzzah. Only about 40 each though... When I started going to Vegas I ventured into the GGS (around 2002). I bought my first set of injection molded ABS chips around this time... I bought a set of what would later become referred to as "Soprano." It was at this time that I learned that GGS did hotstamping... real basic stuff... generic.

So flash forward to receiving this set... I just pictured the employees at GGS scrapping tons of chips getting the hotstamp machine set up. I am curious when GGS switched from the compression molded clay chips to the injection molded ABS chips. My dad may have been just a year or so too late.

It looks like this is dead. I will attempt to sell a few sample sets on eBay. If I sell any, I will contact those who expressed interest here and sell them a set for the original price listed above.
