Not Mine School is in session. (1 Viewer)

Looks like a pretty reasonable deal actually, if you can pick your way through the broken English..

What does not make sense to you?

The auction is for approximately 2500 chips on the CSQ mold. Nice chips for about 60¢ each. They look to be from a private card room but I could be wrong. Not too bad of a price for a bunch of chips!

As I opined last time this set of chips came up for auction - - - I'd value these at ten cents to a quarter each. So $250 to $600 for the set.

With no provenance, a buyer has to assume these are custom home chips not chips from an illegal card room, If the seller does come up with proof of the history of the chip set - then that would inflate the value to some extent.

If they call your name loudly - buy these chips. But in my opinion they are way over priced -=- DrStrange

PS If my father were still alive and playing, I might have overpaid for these. His name was "TJ" and he played poker or gin rummy several days a week for most of his life. A nice set of custom chips would have been a great gift.

OK so this is the great thing about this form is that I am always learning something new about this very very small segment of life. here's a sale where It just doesn't make sense to me. so often the comments here on the forums teach me something so let me be a student.

Here's some info on Portland Card Co. The 8th chip down is for sale on Antique Gambling Chips for $5. I don't believe that is representative of their value "to me," but at .60 cents per chip, doesn't seem like too bad a deal considering the alternatives. Just my 2 cents.:D

Got to agree. The "buy it now" price is about $1 each. Way too much for used CSQ hot-stamps IMO
...... if they could be had for 50-60 cents each, maybe

I contacted this seller a while ago. Very odd fellow. Values his chips WAYYY to high. I agree with the .25 each evaluation.

I think I used the wrong way to ask my question.
I guess it wasnt really about the sale/cost of the chips. I was just imagining the fellow at home, writing his ad. And how did he get these chips? Whats the back story here?

It was more about intrigue.

These have again disappeared from the seller's listings, apparently unsold. Maybe someone here reached an off-eBay deal. Maybe the seller changed his mind again. Hopefully these found a good home with a PCF chipper.

My family and high school friends all call me 'TJ', and I'm definitely a fan of the CSQ mold (I've bought almost 5,000 of them from CPC). I'm also a fan of vintage stuff. Yet even I have zero interest in these chips at this price. The seller is going to have a very difficult time moving these IMO.
