Should I always raise with JJ? (2 Viewers)

if i'm stuck i'm playing JJ aggressively and pending position. Depends on my image as well - but basically no overcards i'm playing for stack if SPR is low < 2 or 3. I find that playing aggressively pre flop for 100 bb or less works well. Heads-up i prefer aggression, multiway i'm ok playing it like no set no bet.
Careful changing how you play hands like that depending on how your session is going, can be dangerous. If I see people lose some big pots, I try to set mine/get creative against them knowing they're leaning towards aggressive plays trying to get even.

i think it helps when you "advertise" and you're bluffing with suited hands or high card blockers - just show whether you're called or not to establish an image works wonders. Players will coin you as on tilt and play wider ranges as well when you start holding some premiums but i totally get what you're saying.

if villains are calling me down light more, i'm more apt to value bet wider as well.

raiiiise you nits, 4th best starting hand in poker and you call a raise from a random live player who sees 84s (his favourite hand) and raises because he came to casino not to play gto and fold, but to drink and have fun

always 3b, sometimes even 4b, all in all for a 100bb I'm willing to put in my stack with JJ unlike you rocks here who sip on your coffee and scruff at jacks about how they always lose
Technically the 5th best starting hand behind AKs but seriously...

You guys play JJ?!?

I once heard a dealer say "jacks are just colorful elevens."
They are colorful 10.5 s :sneaky:

One day i will fold jacks pre flop just to stop the pain of playing them.

JJ is my most hated hand. i cant think of a hand that has cost me more then JJ.

There is no way to play jj well.
Why not play them as 10.5s? :)

I jam every time and if I don’t win I force everyone at table to do Tequila shots repeatedly until I have an edge.

I’m actually serious. @courage has seen me do this at Foxwoods.

I puked the next day in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot on the way to an underground $1/2 NLHE $1000 max game where I mangled AA against GuinnessNH for a $4800 pot, but that’s a different story for a different time.

Nobody plays JJ, he’s The Player

No Fold Preflop, Do Not Raise!

Your Jack's will give you a false impression of strength only to see your self busted time and time again. I'd almost rather play any other pair than Jack's...

Go for the limp reraise to rep “a big hand”

Okay, I know this depends on many factors but let's assume we are playing a 1/2 a the local casino against that player pool, do you always 3-Bet JJ out of position? if not, in what situations?
Always depends what you think your Opponents could have. Obvs if they have a high Pair this is nonsense.

Like everything, there's always a mixed strategy, dynamic dependent, player dependent and game dependent.

You lose a lot of value by not 3betting JJ against crazies, but get absolutely smashed by raising UTG nits.

Other then the simple stuff, having a plan post-flop and not focusing so much on pre-flop would probably improve your game much more as preflop, there are good arguments for going either way.

Depends on who opens and who's behind me. BTN/CO/HJ open? Slam dunk 3-bet. Players behind me or a call inbetween? Probably want to isolate with a raise instead of taking JJ multiway. Meganit from UTG who plays 5% of hands? Maybe call hoping to hit a set, or see if my JJ is an overpair to the board.
i think this.

in low stakes games where 4 bets are rare and high value, JJs are almost always dominated
