Hi,

After doing a little bit of research, it seems Shuffle Tech ST-1000 is the one I'm interested in purchasing. I'm having a hard time finding any used or new machines. Can anyone else recommend a different machine or know where I could find a used or new one available?

I contacted the shuffletech just today and they basically told me to go get on the backorder and wait. I'm tempted to do it and just report back here how long it took to get mine. Seems like it would be easy enough to flip if I don't end up wanting to keep it.

Yeah it was on a 5 week backorder when I placed my order and it arrived pretty much 5 weeks to the day. That was a couple months ago. I think their site said 3-4 weeks last time I looked.

Yeah one would think you wouldn't have much difficulty selling it for close to cost if you decide not to keep it.

I don't think there's anything on the market at the same price point.

surprised china hasn't yet cloned the shit out of that design and sold it for like $200 already
It probably wouldn't be very difficult for an experienced person to reverse engineer from a mechanical standpoint. I think the bigger hurdle is the size of the market. There probably isn't a ton of people willing to pay even $200 for a device like this.

Ironically, this is probably why the Shuffle Techs are priced the way they are. The device itself doesn't seem all that complicated... it's just a plastic housing with a few rollers, gearboxes, a couple switches and probably a small circuit board. If I had to guess, the manufacturing cost of each unit is probably $100 or less. But the market is so small they need to make massive margins to just to make it worthwhile.

I mean - look at the flush mount kit they sell. All it is is a plastic shroud with some basic hardware. Probably $10 in raw materials and it sells for $150.

Case in point: they only charge $150 for out-of-warranty repairs. That should tell you everything you need to know about the costs of the parts.
