Hi everyone, I am relatively new to poker, but have quickly come to really enjoy the game. I have a ragtag team of friends that have also joined me on this new love for poker and host home games. I recently purchased some nice cards from @rjdev7 on Etsy. I would like to purchase a shuffler since I’m not very good at it yet and do not want to damage my nice new set of cards with my bad shuffling skills. Does anyone have any recommendations on a card shuffler I can purchase that’s worth buying? I like to buy once and cry once, if that’s helpful.

The only real home game option is a ShuffleTech. But you and your crew should learn to shuffle cards. You will all likely end up in a different game at some point and should know how to do a basic shuffle.

If you have a deck of cards, you really like don't use them just save them and enjoy them. Pick up a pack of Copag or Kem on Amazon. Maybe once you guys are good at shuffling use that other deck of cards you have. A shuffler is not really a solution to your problem.

Interesting setup with them in the drink tables. I received my ST a couple weeks ago and we're still trying out different things to see what works best. Any suggestions?

Do you play with a dedicated dealer?

Hey Mike, I saw your post about it a few weeks ago and I always think of getting one. What are your initial thoughts on it?

Since moving to a round table as the main table we no longer use a DD. When we played on an oval table I used a DD.

My players absolutely love playing on the round table now. It is so much more social and very easy for everyone to deal from any spot unlike an oval.

I tried 3 decks with the shuffler last time and it felt like we got more hands in.
I could see that for NLHE tournaments and cash games. We play mixed games that take a lot longer to deal and play out so even on the '7 riffle' setting, the shuffler is done doing it's thing long before the next hand begins.

Used it twice so far. It works as advertised. It hasn't had the effect on hands per hour that I'd hoped so far but it's still an asset.

I'd also add there are a couple non-advertised benefits. We use a dedicated dealer, so she appreciated the fact that her hands weren't fatigued by the end of the night. Another benefit is truer randomness. Shuffling a deck of cards isn't difficult, but the machine is going to do a much better job of consistently achieving a true mix vs a human.

Flush mounted and dedicated dealer here.

IMO watch this video and learn to deal like a Casino dealer. In my game we use 2 decks, the dealer cuts and then deals. After the hand is over the dealer shuffles behins and then passes the deck to the small blind in preparation for their turn to deal. When it is their turn they cut and deal. One person shuffles the other person cuts and deal. I think it is more fair and gets everyone involved.

IMO find your best and most willing shufflers and do not pass the deck. Slows the game down. I’ve dedicated dealt 9X% of the 500 sessions I’ve spread and it’s the way to go. Don’t need 10 different people trying to keep the action moving, monitor what’s going on etc.

Dedicated deal for the win.

The shuffle techs are noisy. It can be distracting. We run two decks at our game. One being dealt and the other being shuffled by the next dealer.
