I built a number of these very nice side tables. I sold a bunch of them, but kept a few for my game room. Currently, one sits in the corner near my chip display cases. I had a bunch of dealer buttons (that won't fit in the displays) and chips I want to show off, but have run out of room for in the cases...
These items were just sitting loose, and I have a couple issues with that. One, it takes up real-estate (that table is unusable for anything else). And two, the chips are all in the open, and not very secure, should someone decide to walk off with something shiny looking (my kids routinely have friends over too).
I started to think about how I could craft some sort of cover (glass would be ideal) to protect the chips, and allow for the table to be used (stuff set on it). Ordering custom glass was going to be very pricey, so I took to Craigslist. Bam! Right there, was an ad for a side table w/ glass top. The diameter was nearly spot on, and $20 later, I have a new top for my side table.
