I grew up in Savannah Georgia and I remember one morning thinking something was on fire since there was “ash” everywhere. It was snow

Yeah, I'm in North Georgia and can confirm. Not only the snow, but that we're rookies =). The problem with snow in Georgia is it isn't cold enough to stay snow, so you end up with a lot of ice on the roads rather than snow, and then the snow comes down on top of it. And given we usually see accumulation of maybe an inch total every year spread over five or six events I'd be surprised if we were suddenly experts at dealing with it.

At least this time everyone stayed home. Last time we got this much snow this quickly we made it on the news because folks were stuck in their cars for 24+ hours because nobody believed it would happen and then everyone tried to rush home at once at the same time the 2 salt trucks for the entire state were struggling to get any coverage. Took me 12 hours to go 6 miles and get off the highway. I didn't get home for like 4 days, though I did manage to limp to a friend's house to wait it out.

I attended the Atlanta Supershow as a vendor back in the mid 90's. It was less than 0° the whole time & my rental car was a convertible.

Learned a lot that trip!

I'd never drive on Glenwood Ave in the snow with any other cars on it. It has a lot of hills and dips.

I hated to laugh at that picture because at the time it was really serious but looking at the catastrophe that transpired over snow and especially a vehicle in flames is just hilarious. Shame on me.
