I just learned what that meant today watching poker chip review videos. Is this a common problem? One of the biggest reasons I'm considering a "real" set of chips (something better then my CC Pharaohs) is for the more subtle but nonetheless important features that make casino grade chips more enjoyable, namely feel, sound, stack ability. Having spinners mixed throughout a set would be really upsetting for stacking.

I'm going to have to break out my CC Pharaohs and check for spinners, I've played them for 5 years now and not noticed it.

Is this a issue when considering casino grade chips?

Rarely happens with new chips.

With high-end chips, the biggest threats are chip warpage due to excessive heat exposure, and occasionally hot-stamping (either from excessive foil material that wasn't scraped adequately, or occasionally warpage caused by the hot-stamping process itself). With china clays, it's usually caused by labels that aren't completely within the recessed area of the chip.
