Very nice set. I had looked for these chip for a little while in the early days of chipping, never found enough to get started..

I like the simplicity, shaped inlays, and colors are nice..

IMO, one of the great $5s of all time!

And those hundo spots are hard to beat, as well.

Really? I mean they are nice, but with a giant inlay and RHC (?) they seem to be the runt of the litter.

One of the few examples of a giant inlay that really works, I think. The inlay is cool and with lots of detail, and in a way it makes sense to show it off on one of the chips in the set.

Agreed. And the secondaries are mint and aren’t super slippery. I just realized how similar these are to Empress $5s.

Back in the day i was building my set on a budget, couldn't afford the mint secondaries & the primaries were too rounded for my liking. I was lucky enough to win an auction for a rack of the 1st Anniversary 5s. Used, but in much better condition than most of the primary nickels.

IMO, giant inlays minimize the impact of the RHC mold.

And when it comes to giant inlay $5s, for me, the best of them are these and the Bahamia Milleniums.

Don't think I've seen the millennium chips, will have to check them out.

I don't mind a nice giant inlay though it's not my first pick generally and I would prefer if all chips in the set were of consistent mold and inlay size (with the exception of shaped inlays).

Sexy set overall! I would agree that those $5s are a good example of how to do a giant inlay right.

This was one of the first, if not the first, big sets out there on the secondary market.
I still remember finding them on eBay years ago and them leading me to ChipTalk over a decade ago!

Nothing worse than having to remove those gold foil stamps from the chips with nail polish remover though :(
The pressure from the stamp cracking a TON of the chips was a bummer as well...
And I still wish they had made the frac with an inlay instead of the hotstamp.

However, since they were from so close to "home" [KC], I had to have a set and sent me down the rabbit hole!

Any idea where'd they all go? I know I can be aloof but I think this is the first time I've seen these.

Edit: seen a few of the fracs (amazing spotting/color for any chip let alone a frac)

I would guess that the most of them are in collections either of current members and they aren't selling... or of past members from CT that never made the migration to PCF, but they are definitely out there!

Does anyone have a couple racks of the secondary 25s? If so, please get in touch ;)

Possibly...

Ha!
I wish... if I had held on to all of the chips I e owned, and never sold anything, I’d be a millionaire !!! J/K.
I’ve always liked the search and hunt and working on putting together the “next” set.
Unfortunately, I’ve had about 30-40 “next” sets since my St Jo chips.
Keep in mind, this was about 12-13 years ago, late 2006-early 2007

Are they leaded?

I only own 4 denoms. Based on their weight per chip, i would guess:

$5 RHC 1st Anniv, 9.4 - 9.6 gm, No
$25 Primary, 9.5 - 9.7 gm, No
$25 Secondary, 9.6 - 9.8 gm, No
$100 Primary, 11 - 11.2 gm, Yes
You bet they are. The hundos are bricks and the $1s don’t have that hollow feeling that new unleaded white chips have.

Yep, I can vouch for the Primary hundos, but I haven't had much experience handling the secondary $100 chips.

You have to remember that red and green are typically lighter in weight. I know some of other THC $5s are leaded but are under 10g.
