Hello all,

Some of you may have seen a thread regarding my chips being taken from my house (it was later removed so it would not deter the person who took them to post them for sale online.)

Some portion of these chips have been recovered.

I have not been home yet to see exactly what is there, but I've been told "there is a big box of poker chips waiting for you". I'm also not sure what the condition of anything might be.

I've been advised not to give public details regarding how the items were recovered, or about the person found in possession of them until pending criminal charges have been completed.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for me, and for all the positive messages and encouragement from everyone. I'm very thankful that some stuff found its way back.

I'll post some photos later tonight or tomorrow of what is there, I have a fairly long drive to get back home.

Fantastic! Hope things continue to turn out better.

Hope the offender wasn't from PCF. Glad you got your stash back.

That's awsome. Yeah, curious to see how much you recover and in what condition. Regardless, it sounds like you'll have some closure.

Some of you may want to shield your eyes. Though I guess it's essentially a splashed pot photo.

I'm way too tired to deal with this right now, and I'm going through some other non-poker stuff right now too. I'll get it sorted and counted in the morning. A few things based on a quick glance and some shifting of things.

1. No JACK Cincy (live) chips
2. No Horseshoe Cleveland cash chips other than snappers (had 40 commem $5 and half a barrel of $1k primary)
3. Only 3 racks and the bottom half of a birdcage? I'm beyond confused by both of these things.

Yikes... sending positive thoughts your way. Luckily a person was found in possession of them, and criminal charges appear likely. That's a good sign that this scum might be held responsible for the others as well... regardless if in possession.

Bad news, is in my experience these scumbags rarely have the means to make you whole. Blood/turnip... hope this is not the case.

If it turns out this person was any associated with PCF, I trust you'll let us know once the dust settles.

I'm happy to have some of this back, but deeply confused by what isn't here.

A total of 5 acrylic racks were recovered (just grabbed other ones to sort these) and 1 bottom of a birdcage, along with 1 Horseshoe dealer button.

The entire tournament set was intact except for exactly 1 of each denom, including the 100 buy-in chip. Horseshoe Cleveland $1s were not a part of this, I just used them to mark the spots where chips were short from a barrel. I did buy some extras from Jim when I bought the set (ALWAYS buy extras!) so I can fill these racks except for the 100 buy-in chip.

There were no JACK Cincy live chips, and no Horseshoe Cleveland cash chips other than 141 8-spot snappers (over 80 are not in here, and it's such a random amount to be missing, and also puzzling why some were left but others are gone)

The condition of the chips doesn't seem to be any worse, but a few of them had peanut butter on them. I didn't taste to verify, but that's what it looked like.

Better than nothing, but I'm still a little sick to my stomach. This is less than half of the value of what was missing.

Glass half-full, baby...... most times the amount of recovered items is zero. Live chips aside (those are likely already converted to cash), your chances of getting additional chips returned seems better than average.

Can't wait to hear the backstory on all this, once criminal proceedings have concluded. Best of luck to you.

You may be able to get restitution for the missing items, but that can be a pain. The worst part about crimes like these is the feeling of being violated and the loss of personal items. Try to look at the positives and get your life in order, because material possessions don't make you happy in the long run. And I'm very sorry for the loss of your chips, but you mentioned you had other personal issues to address, and those are probably much more important in the long run. Nice to see you got some back, stay positive.

I actually feel relatively silly about how important poker chips have become as part of my everyday life. I've always been like that with hobbies though, one thing takes over most of my free time and I go at it hard.

That being said, financially this entire thing is a relatively large setback for me. Not because of poker chips. I don't make a lot of money, and neither does my wife. Most of the chips/etc that I own came from money built from poker. Most of the other items in my house came from income, and credit cards.

Like Trihonda said, it's pretty unlikely I am going to get anything back from the person who did this. If someone is doing things like this, they generally don't have the means to pay for the things they've taken. Plus it's going to cost additional money for litigation, more time and effort, etc.

That coupled with what is estimated to come back from insurance (minus our deductible, what they determine the cost is to replace your items, etc) this is going to hurt once we replace things that are more important than poker chips.

Glass half-empty, I suppose.

Anyway, thanks again to everyone for the support. I really do appreciate it!

Man I totally feel for ya seriously. I would be devastaded as well...even if some of them made it back. Sorry you're having to deal with this shit.

Based on my own personal opinion and absolutely nothing else, it seems very unlikely that this person knows a community like this even exists.

Sorry to hear about this, Brett. I'm glad at least some of your chips were returned.

Something about this seems very odd.

Thanks Marsha. It makes a little more sense when you have all of the details, and I hate that I have to be somewhat cryptic about it right now. I just know a lot of people were concerned and figured some news was better than no news.

Something is definitely off though, and there are some things that nobody seems to have been able to find answers for yet.

How did they get stolen? Home game or robbery while you were away?

This whole thing is total bollocks!

Just glad you have some of your chips back!

Hope you get more good news going forward.

While I was away. I've still been unable to get a home game running in my area, I tried once (after this happened) and only one person showed up.

I'm not exactly motivated to host at the moment, though I'm sad I rarely get to use my table (but fortunate that it was hidden and also quite heavy, so it never left.)
