Hey all. New to this forum so start by saying thanks for all the great discussion. I'm currently closing on a house and want to start a home game once we get moved in. I just got some chip samples in today and will be ordering a set soon. I was wondering if there were any suggestions of a prebuilt or "stock" poker table (racetrack style) that will be good to start out with. Nothing crazy expensive but not a cheap POS either. I eventually want to build a custom table but I'm not sure when I will have the time for that so I want to get something to get the game going. Thanks!

Paging @T_Chan

Oh wait...

I've come across a pretty nice used table that has a racetrack, lights and a chip drawer. Looks like it's in good condition. $2,000 CAD plus shipping if you want it. It know it's not "budget" or stock but brand new it's over $4k.

*Disclaimer: this is not a table I've built. Chips not included nor probably wanted.

Customer to car seller: So... D'Ya have any stock cars. Y'know, basic "there and back" kinda things, nothin' fancy? Looking for something between 10 and 20 big ones.

Car seller: Sure. Let me show you these brand new Ferraris.

Customer: Umm... How much are they?

Seller: Oh they start at 300 thousand.

Customer: My limits 20 big ones, dude.

Seller: Sorry can't hear you. Hey look at this nice red one.

Chanman weren't you selling some basic stock tables in a thread a while ago based on availability? Maybe op could wait for one of those.

Unfortunately there not great stock tables. Most of the people here are going to recommend Craigslist as a possible way to get a table if you are lucky.

What is your budget? And location?

Chanman tables are great, I have a folding one that has been perfect for our space. Great build quality.

Materials for a basic, non-racetrack table, not including labor, are at least $250-$300. Add $50-$75 for a racetrack. You'll also need the tools and the help of at least one person to stretch vinyl while you staple.

You can find decent tables on craigslist/letgo/etc for somewhere in that neighborhood.

That's your best bet for a prebuilt/stock poker table that's not a cheap POS.

Yes but OP said he's looking for a racetrack style. My basic tables do not have this feature.

Nothing much more to add other than shipping will probably "kill" your budget and if that's the case might as well wait a little longer and get a chanman table. Even if it is a basic one that doesn't have a race track. Chans gaming cloth is fantastic and you could print a race track but that's a little more as well.

You really need to give us an idea of what you're looking to spend, because terms like "cheap" are relative. As a general rule, stock, prebuilt, budget aren't words that go with racetrack tables. Racetracks are usually only found on higher end custom tables. And 2 cents, for what its worth, if you have any room to re-think things, a racetrack is an expensive add-on that a whole lot of people here wouldn't take for free.
Anyway, here's my suggestion for a budget, entry level table. It has no racetrack. I have no first hand experience with it, but it looks like a great bet to me.

I'm sorry, I guess I got my wording mixed up and meant oval, not necessarily racetrack. I will send you an inquiry via your website. Loved what I saw of your work and your standard table is something that I am looking for.

Thanks for the input. Yeah I replied to Chan's post saying I should have put oval instead of racetrack. Obviously a noob when it comes to this stuff and have been looking at site after site in my spare time. As far as budget, yes I was looking at the 200-300 range for something prebuilt until I can get the time to make one myself. Thanks again for the reply and having mercy on my noob soul haha

Highly recommend @T_Chan basic table. He calls them basic, but they are of high quality, well built and will last a long time.

My "basic" table from him is nicer than 80% of the tables I play on in other home games.

Several people in our league have this table. They are confirmed decent for the money.

For $200-300, Amazon or eBay. There's lots of stock tables available in that price range, some even have free shipping which is a good option for you if you're looking for a temp poker table.

I appreciate the honesty and I can tell your products are out of my price range...for now. I definitely will look forward to upgrading and will check back with you when the time comes. Like I said I'm moving into a new house (first home) and want to get something that won't collapse just to get a game going. I unfortunately can't convince my wife a custom poker table is more important than most of our other "needs" for the house haha.

no joke, do yourself the favor. play on a card table, kitchen table, or plastic fold up table, for a few weeks, months or even a year to save for a nice table.

why spend 200-300 now, with having the table possibly warp or become unusable after a few sessions. buying online from the pre-made selection is risky at best, possibly get a complete piece of shit table (i know from experience) that table is going to be impossible to resell for what youre going to pay, youll never recoup your money

I say this with complete conviction, wait and save for a good table. you wont regret it.

in the past 5 years i have bought a cheap furniture set after moving into a house - the stitching ripped, the cushions lost all the filling, this is from a large well known furniture store - but complete shit.

was given an entry level lawn mower as a wedding gift - lasted 2 years with motor problems

you get what you pay for, why pay twice.

Or check Craigslist for the basic poker table. Every now and the something nice comes along but can also find one of those used and maybe pick it up for $60.

Any stock table you find new for $200-$300 is worth maybe a hundred bucks. Don't do it.

If a racetrack is not a requirement (and I strongly advise against it), then your best bets for value are:

Build it yourself. A very nice oval with upscale materials can be constucted for $400 or so, and there are lots of folks here that can help ensure you avoid many of the first-timer pitfalls. A portable folding table-top can be built for around $150, and will far exceed the quality of anything you can purchase for twice as much.

Buy one from @T_Chan ChanMan Tables. His basic tables are incredibly priced, even when including shipping costs.

Find a local table builder and have him build one to your specs. Cost would likely be close to what you'd pay Tony, maybe a tad less.

Get lucky and find an incredible deal on craigslist or letgo, and hope it's a solid build in good shape and you don't get rolled during the cash transaction. Definitely buyer beware with this option.

If you can't afford any of those choices right now, then spend $40 shipped for a 72" oval neoprene roll-up table-topper, and put the rest of your budget money away until you have saved enough for one of the first three options listed above.

Bottom line: Don't settle for something subpar that costs you a high percentage of your budget. Save that cash for the real deal, and you'll save money (and be happier) in the long run.

Quoting for truth.

Found one on Facebook marketplace for under $100. Going to pick it up early next week. Thanks for all the suggestions. I may still pick up one of those neoprene rolls in case we need a second table.
