I joined this forum a while back and have made several purchases since. Judge me as you like, but thus far my favorites have been the Majestics. The balance of feel/sound/looks, as well as durability, seem to be right for the game we play.

Things are crazy in my house right now, so no time for pron, but posted a link and a big shout out to @UW85 for selling me these chips. They were packed flawlessly and I really like these chips. My hope is that the ceramics hold up in my game. However, i purchased nearly twice what I need, so plenty of spares! We run .25/.50/1/5/10, so nearly every denomination will see use and I might swap the $25 for .25, just change things up sometimes.

I began down this path, looking at Nevada Jack Skulls, but I've never held them. Then I saw this Tiki set. What I like about the Tiki set is that each chip has a different face, which is nice. @UW85 also had the $10 chip made as a custom denomination, using the $1,000 chip color pattern. Sit down, at my .25/.50, we use plaques! Yes plaques, for $5 and $10, just because it's fun. This is supposed to be fun right? Anyway, I was looking for plaques for the Tiki set, but I like the $5 and $10 chips so much, I think I'm good to go! I just ordered my Tiki dealer button to seal the deal.

Thanks for listening!

I said thus far. Now, it's at least a tie, but if the Tikis play and hold up well, they might edge out the Majestics. Of course, everyone needs a clay set AND a ceramic, so i'm not nervous at all. That said, I'd like a custom set at some point, that will be the true test. Ceramic or clay? And are current ceramics on the same level as Sun-Fly and bunch of other topics I'm ignorant about. It really doesn't end, does it???

If you do go ceramic I highly suggest you get swatch chips from the manufacturer. The colors will vary quite a bit depending on color. Blues seem to be solid but greens are almost always a miss and browns will end up very grey. Use the colors they provide and don't deviate from the CMYK values too, too much. Ceramics are the way to go for quality, consistency and longevity. And I guarantee you will be happy with the results.

Regarding longevity, it's a mixed bag with either cc's or ceramics. Ceramics are harder wearing but if you scratch a ceramic, you can't really mask that. If you scratch a cc, rub some mineral oil over it and the scratch will disappear. Seems to me that the colours tend to be rather more subdued with ceramics than cc's, but that could just be me. Also ceramics are more brittle, and if you chip a bit off you're left with the white blank underneath, which wouldn't happen with a cc.

That said, Quicksilver has guaranteed you'll like ceramics, so you can always sue if you don't :p

so no time for pro
