So jumping into table number 2.
Pretty much the same design and fabrics as table #1 With the only difference being the size. Table #1 was 42x72 this ones going to be 44X88 (maybe)

This one will also have the Hafele legs that i know @72o picked up also. So far they look like great legs, have a little wiggle to them so will see once in real use.

The speed cloth and the rail foam are en route, so they will go on next week.
Definitely going a little smoother this time around but still seems like a decent amount of work.

And heres the pics... or it didn't happen...

Mat guy :) Nice man. Keep the pics coming. This is great. Please keep a list of your total cost excluding time as Im really curious as to what it takes to build one of these. I'd love to tackle a round table at some point.

Looks awesome so far man. We're doing the same build at the same time. Or! Or! You could just build 2 of those and drop one off at my place?

Here are the costs so far, definitely could be cheaper.
I used the China made SSC the first build and its works fine but is DEFINITELY not waterproof. so i splurged this time on the USA made.

Material ---------My Cost--------My Material ---------Alternative Material--------Alternative Coat

Plywood X2 _____$80 ________3/4 Poplar________3/4 Pine or MDF________$40- $50

Table Foam_____$30_________1/4 Hi Density_____3/16 medium___________$15
_
Table SSC______$60_________USA Waterproof___China NON WP.________$20 - $50

Rail Foam______$54_________1" 65Lb__________1" 50Lb______________$37
_
Table Legs______$73__________Hafele Folding___Folding or fixed________$0 to $25

Rail Vinyl_______$30_________Xtreme/ YAT______ ?? ... ??__________$30

Total so far is $327. Does not include any tools.

Alternative/ cheaper materials would be anywhere from $142 to $172 depending on base used.

Most materials came from YAT (yourautotrim.com) not the cheapest but nice they have almost everything in stock and ship pretty quickly.

i'm up to just under $400 and i havent purchased any wood, hardware, or small tools needed. but my cost included a $150 dining table i bought on craigslist to steal the pedastal base from

 :whistling::whistle: :whistling::whistle: :whistling:;););) I need a longer table than i already have, mine doesnt have enough room for 10 + dealer

I dont think this one will be much bigger than yours.

Go grab that one in Marshfield on Craigslist and i'll help recover it !! :):):):)

One change I'd think about making on my next table is moving away from plywood and into an "advanced" OSB.

Much more rigid, (almost) totally waterproof, very smooth and about $30/sheet. Only downside could be the weight but it certainly isn't as heavy as MDF.

miens 98 inches long, so i dont think it will be bigger

This i wanted to be portable and i dont have a big house so i couldn't go JUMBO on the sizing. 8-9 players for this and 10 in a squeeze/ no dealer.

So you want bigger than 98? i think i saw some 102" or 108" online.

I'd be interested to see a table build out of it. seems pretty rugged.
Im considering going a bit longer maybe 102-104inchs with cupholders built in if I could sell this at a reasonable price. think i paid $699 for it to gorilla gaming.

clearly, well built table, just prefer a bit longer and built in cup holders for the idiots i play with

Which one did Gorilla Gaming make the DOnkwoods or the brown one?

Yup...I'll drop it off this weekend. You're the best, man. Huge time saver for me thanx. :D

Actually, do you have a plunge router? Maybe I can rent it from you?

Oh ok. I have a regular one but wasn't sure it would work. Good to know it will.

Hell of a nice table. You just made me realize what I've known for years...I'm a terrible carpenter.

Don't look too close, its a little sloppy, but better than the first build i did.

I will say the router is probably the hardest thing to use in getting the radius cuts right. I used a circle jig from Sears. A must have i think for this. A real carpenter can probably rig up something quickly.

I will just pay someone else to do it. I know my limitations as a man.

UPDATE:

Rail foam arrived today and SSC.
Unpacked rail foam, will probably need a day or so to expand fully. SSC on the other hand gets installed ASAP !!

Also added a "trunk handle" for carrying paddle board style, I would also like to add flip out rail protectors for when its resting on its side and being stored. (@T_Chan i hope your ok me stealing that idea...)

Next Update should be with rail foam and vinyl installed. I'll secure rail to playing surface with about 8 wood screws but leave some slack for slide in cup holders.

Also am contemplating adding a small 1/4" ply base to the under side of the playing surface. Its pretty rigid using the 3/4 ply base and the rail will give some more strength, but another layer maybe 60x30 oval shape underneath should make the play surface super strong.
