Hi all,

I've made three tables over the years, and my last one, a 58" round, is the one we always use if we have 8 or less. When I finished it 4 years ago, I bought cheap suited speed cloth from Amazon, which was a big mistake. What are my options for cloths? I would love a Chanman custom felt, but as great as they are, they're a little too expensive for me. I was going to choose the custom toppers that rjdev7 does, but the diameter of my felt needs to be 48 1/2" and his maximum width is 48".

I don't need a custom cloth, but I also don't want just plain. I may go with suited speed cloth again, but a higher quality one this time. Where to people get their SSC from these days? I would prefer a smoother less abrasive cloth if I can find something. Thanks

I've always used YourAutoTrim for felt and foam:

Historically, the discount code scottkeen has taken some of the cost off.

I switched from suited to non-suited cloth one felt change ago and felt it was less abrasive on cards than the suited variety. The only problem is you don't have the nice pattern on the felt with it.

I see why you are posting this thread after your dirty cloth thread. Remember, people are filthy animals. Even if you had a nice Chanman cloth, it would still get dirty and need to be removed and cleaned periodically. The texture of the SSC (or unsuited variety) will tend to collect fine debris and dust more than the Chanman will, but no matter the felt, it's still going to get dirty one way or another. Just friendly advice.

(As an aside, I have 1/4" Volara under the felt on my table. Being closed cell, I *am* able to spot clean my felt with a damp towel and even some gentle carpet cleaner without worrying about ruining the foam or table underneath. It's useful for in-between the times I remove and wash the felt. Good luck!!)

I’m a person that usually obsesses and ends up with the “best”….but I’ve never seen a poker felt I liked. Since I built my table 20 years ago it’s been felted with stuff I find at Joannes fabrics. I tend to stop in one once or twice a year and look through the cloths they have…especially with the remnants. When I find one I buy it and hold on until the one I’m using shows age and I replace it.

Unless you’re going to big, big, all my gear has come from Casino Supply. Fast service and free shipping on orders over like $150 or something.
Agreed^. Everything they sell is pretty good except for the high density foam. It’s trash, get the auto stuff.

Yeah, I built my first table 20 years ago, and the first cloth I used was Suited Speed Cloth from YourAutoTrim. In fact I still have it on my big table! My tables are only used one or two times per month, and my guys are pretty good, so my tables don't get that dirty. I did remove that original SSC about 5 years ago I think and put it in the washer and it did do a great job. The issue I'm having with my round table is different. It looks pristine after I wipe it off, not much sign of dirt or stains. It just marks up IMMEDIATELY upon use. I may try to wash it to see what that does, but honestly, I've hated this cheap SSC from Amazon from the day I got it. I will never order it from Amazon again.

Thanks for your feedback. I did go to YourAutoTrim, but the prices seemed really high. I'll try that scottkeen discount code, LOL.

Oh, yeah, I used to have an obsession with finding alternative cloths. Joanne's velveteen was popular way back. I also have a discount fabric store near me, and used to take regular trips in there. I still have one of those cloths on my third table that only gets used once per year during a special event. I think you've inspired me to stop back in and take a look! Although I have to admit, I found many cloths that I liked, but never one that I loved.

I think my ideal cloth would be this one in round version maybe with just flat black in the middle circle. So, a simple custom cloth. Are there any other options for custom toppers?

You can get custom layouts from @Spinettis Gaming for both layouts and custom toppers as well. I handle all of the custom orders, designing etc there so I'd be happy to help out with a project like this if you were looking to go that route.

We make custom layouts with the same exact material that casinos use for their tables and everything else.

For the custom toppers I have two different options for material.

Would 1/4” gap around the circumference really be all that bad? It’d sure be a whole lot easier!

Yeah, that would drive me nuts. It's actually a little bigger than 48 1/2" too, so one side would be a half inch at times. I can't think of how to make a quarter inch wide ring to go around the outside to fill the gap.
