My first tournament of 2025 is coming up on Friday. Running a $50 ($40 + $10 Bounty) game, with 17 players currently registered. Last year, I ran 4 of these, using Home Poker Tournament Manager (HPTM) from my laptop, streamed to a large TV.

My question to you die hard Tournamnet Director (TD) users is, what am I missing out on by using a free tournament manager like HPTM?

I feel like this may be a case of, "I don't know what I don't know" kind of thing...

You're not missing much.

You'll need to track entries/buy-ins on paper or via laptop/phone somehow, plus manually deal with player movements after bust-outs and redraw for the final table.

But for just four stand-alone events per year, TD probably isn't worth the expense or learning curve.

I've ran 10-event leagues for nearly 20 years using a version of the software you have. That plus excel has worked fine for my purposes.

Thanks for the commentary here! My player pool fluctuates, so I don't track any league type stats. Tracking buy-ins/rebuys is done on paper and seat assignments are done with seating chips from BRPro.

Thanks for the reassurance that I'm good with HPTM.
