What would you call the texture on: Nevada Jack Skulls, Scroll ceramics, Spaydz, Paulson and CPC?

For me, Paulson - crosshatching; CPC - fine checkering; Nevada Jack Skulls - fine stippling; Spaydz - matte

Always looking to find better terms.

And while we''re at it, I know casino chipco's come in at least two finishes - I'd love to know which is called what, and if there are others?

I think the ceramic finish terms you seek are 'smooth' and 'linen' finish.

Almost all non-smooth chip finishes are cross-hatched, by strict definition: created by intersecting parallel lines etched into the mold. Mostly the differences are a result to what degree of depth, width, and spacing of those lines.

Thanks BG, I think that answers my question, but I think John was describing other finishes too? I've seen some ceramics with an almost bubbly finish - I don't know if that's what John's describing as Nevada Jack stipple, or if that's a fourth thing.

Not sure about the others but CPC ... brand new CPC chips... like sandpaper rubbing together until you shuffle a few times... then it gets smoother :)

Edit: this is a gross generalization but in my experience it's been like that

Those are the ones! Thanks

Yes, the Nevada Jacks do have the bubble finish. I think I am over thinking this. The term 'Linen' finish covers the different varieties of texture on ceramics. I saw, what first looked liked, diamond checkering on the scroll/crown laurel chips. Looking at them now, 'linen' is a much better term.

agreed

CPC 's various molds do have differences in feel, I wouldn't lump them all together for sure.
