The Chip Room site has been down for maintenance for like a week. Any ideas why?

jim did just move his company into new quarters. maybe hes giving his site a new paint job also.

Until/unless he is able to close on another casino that goes under is Jim even in the poker chip game in any capacity? He's been "moving to a new location" for like a year or more, I always assumed it meant "closed until further notice".

iirc this is the second time he has moved this year or within a year.

I haven't visited the website in years, even during his boom it really didn't say what he had in stock or allow you to purchase anything without emailing him if I remember correctly. Judging from his last few sales (aside from the PDs) they have all basically the same stuff with reduced prices just to get rid of it.

I could be wrong but I'd guess the site being abandoned is more likely than a paint job...

Here's hoping I am mistaken.

The site has been abandoned since 2012. But, it's free with his domain hosting, so there was no reason to take it down.

Now it's "down for maintenance." This is either very good, or very bad for prospects of future Chip Room sales...

So is he the only game in town as far as getting used casino chips just after it closes? Is there other avenues to take? I bought casino chips from him in the past (good experience) but have always wondered how he acquired them. Also was wondering if ther was other reputable people that acquire large sums of recently closed casino chips in order to resell them.

There have been other sets acquired by people in the past. Usually they seem to be from the east coast (Crystal Park, Olivia's and Vineyards(pretty sure it wasn't Jim) outposts) not always though (PNY) it seems most of the time it's knowing the right person. I believe Jim did a lot of work to get the sets he did, I don't want to speculate on what he had to do to get the sets though.

Would be nice to hear the stories, if Jim would share some of them with us someday.

We aren't always proud of how we get our chips, and we sometimes have to do things we'd rather not have to, but it's worth it.

It's always worth it.

Getting a chip fix. A chix.
