The Story: This set is an homage to the old Atlantic City from a time when the boardwalk was the main attraction whenever tourists aren't gambling in the casinos. The Steel Pier is known for the amusement rides on the boardwalk that lays between the old casinos and the beach, most notably the ferris wheel that overlooks the entirety of the boardwalk and beach with every hotel and casino built on or near it.
When I was young and not yet married, Atlantic City was an old haunt of mine and was an escape for a night out with friends or a romantic date night out overnight with my girlfriend (now wife). I haven't been back since we've had kids, but they're memories I look fondly back on.
The Lineup: I built the chip lineup with all 1/8 inch spots. I simply liked how the chip colors played off of each other and how the spots progressed. There aren't that many chip sets out there with blue quarters and red $5 chips, but not too many with yellow dollars! The THC molded candidates with 1/8 inch spots that would otherwise have fit here I didn't like. The 818 yellow chip gives the set a lot of flair and a lot of pop. Plus, who doesn't like seeing a lot of yellow chips on the felt? My game plays mostly 0.25/0.25 or sometimes 0.25/0.50 if not a microstakes game, and there are mostly $1 chips in the pot at any given time. I can't wait to see how these look on the felt!
Without further ado:
