The Story Behind your Set Name (4 Viewers)

My first set of custom chips came in (Tinas), and what was supposed to be a single set is quickly growing in scope. I'm now looking to put together a set of CPCs, but I'm having trouble coming up with a theme. Scrolling through threads for inspiration, it seems like animals/pets, towns / town landmarks, and sports teams are popular ways to go, but what's the story behind YOUR set name?

And apologies if this has come up before, but my searches didn't yield much.

I'll go first, but it isn't much of a story. I wanted to get my chips ASAP, so I repurposed a logo I use for a scholastic chess company I own. The pair of 5s is a head nod to an address.

What's the story/inspiration behind your set name?

I'm from Monmouth county and went to Rutgers, and was part of their Antarctic research team for a few deployments. We ran little tournaments down there, and boom, The Ice Cardroom was born! Cheap customs that I still use for our low stakes home games.

lol, and cool about the NJ connection. I hire a lot of my chess instructors from the Rutgers Chess Club/Team. It's a perfect part job for college kids.

The best hand given the flop is the nuts, so I went with that as my theme in most of my chip sets. And squirrels like nuts, so I went with a squirrel, too. The sunglasses were added to make him a blind squirrel, and as we all know, even a blind squirrel finds the nuts.

I also have a River Rat theme, which came from one of my players. Any time someone sucked out a win with a river card, he would call them a river rat. So of course I had to create a chip set out of his table talk.

I live on a road with the same name as on my chips.

I also collect books with that name in the title.

(And I used to use cards with that same name on the back, since it matched up… But they aren’t very good cards so I gave that up.)

I am planning on designing and buying my first custom tina set early this year. I have the name in mind and an idea on the logo. I want to name it "the harvest house" because of my harvesting hustle on pcf. I want to have a silhouette of a tree and roots, and then at the bottom "reap what you sow" if it's not too busy on the chip.

I like logic and logical arguments, mythology is also a favorite of mine. I’ve used them in themes you can find links in my signature.

I haven’t used but commissioned a label for “River Champions” I love the theme but it is a bit long for a chip face.

When an action card comes out on the river someone will say ‘this week on river champions…’
