Found this company called THEORY11 they make playing cards in the USA. Got my first set today and they are pretty awesome. The art work and detail are pretty incredible. Only thing I don’t love about them is that they aren’t 100% plastic. But they are great quality nonetheless.

Yeah will do, just got them today and have a tournament/cash game tonight I’ll break them out and let you know for sure.

They look and feel legit but since they aren’t plastic I can’t imagine them holding up for too long but we’ll see

I started collecting decks before I joined PCF. I’ve bought several Theory 11 Star Wars and Avengers themed decks. They seem to be really trying to go mainstream as I see them for sale at Target. Imo they try to draw you in with their shiny boxes but the cards at least for me are always a let down. So I recently gave all of mine away @Godzilla28

If people are interested there are alternative people/companies to take a look at.

Be aware those Ironman cards are rubbish but the case is unique.

Personally I think these decks and cards have more substance than what Theory 11 offers. I fully admit a lot of the flashier cards and decks are more suited for collecting and display as opposed to play.

Kingswildproject.com has some pretty interesting decks. They hold up well ?

Didn’t really find much interest in the other sites honestly.

Can’t say I’ve successfully used them for poker yet. Legal Tender is just too much holofoil and the suits are too hard to discern cross across the table.

Solstice I use in blackjack where the suits don’t matter and the viewing distance is close.

I’m planning to try out Sterling in my next poker game. I suspect the back of the cards could potentially be markable if someone were to scrape it with their nail or something. I dunno. I’ve never tried personally. I did try to use Hooters cards at a game once and all the players were too distracted to play the game, the card values were not the largest font, and the suits are not easily identifiable from across the table... but really the card faces were too much. 5 pair was the board minimum.

I think if you’re going to spend even Theory 11 money for decks you should do it primarily for aesthetics or decoration. You wouldn’t want someone to misread J4o, beat you in a big pot, and not give the money back.

the theory11s i have are really easy to see what the card is. The only thing “fancy” about them is the deck box the cards are pretty normal.

I don’t really like the holo, or foiling on the cards themselves. The kings project players table 13 and 15 are pretty tradition with a little flare. Digging those. As far as playing poker with them ? Eh I’ll mostly be sticking with my copags but we will give this theory’s a run to see what’s up.

Thanks for all the info tho, much appreciated

If you don't mind paper collectible playing cards, check out Thirdway Industries. They are offerings from am Italian iillustrator that likes to use mythological and Classical themes. Always releases through Kickstarter, and I've backed many projects over years and years. Check it out!

I wouldn’t say it’s a “gimmick” but to each their own.

I just thought these theory11 cards were pretty cool and I live in Hudson NY. Which is where they got the inspiration for this set of cards. Definitely a marketing ploy but what isn’t these days
