I purchased an add on to my existing Milano set. Turns out they are thicker (an issue I knew was possible). Has anyone ever tried to "fix" this? I was considering using a pad sander on each chip in a barrel to test it out. I know they're not expensive but I don't want to scrap a whole set to make sure they're uniform.

It completely tilts me that they're different.

What you can do is try and sell them on Craig's or here for a small loss, then just buy all the chips you need from the same batch.

Wanna buy them? I'm just kidding.

I'd stay away from modifying them. I agree that you will likely just ruin them. Is it still noticeable when you mix them in barrels?

No it wont tilt anyone who has 100% of the same denom because they will all look the same. Whats the denom and how many do you have (that are identical)?

Does no one else open up this thread hoping for fat ass Italian chicks? No? Okay.

Yeah I have T10k stacks so I cant use the larger denoms. I really dont need them, but care to post a pic of the $1ks.

I'm confused here, sorry. Are stacks within the same denom the problem? Or just stacks across different denoms? If stack heights within the same denom are fine, that's all that really should matter (to me anyway...not trying to tell you how to feel :D). After all, when stacking off or counting out bets, you only match heights within the same denom anyway, right?

I think what he's saying is that 50% or whatever of the same denom is different. I dont think you will find the same thickness across all denoms with the milanos.

@BGinGA
I picture you looking like this when you say that.

What are you guys talking about! I love my Milanos. Im going to start a PrOn thread.

Sanding them sounds like the same sort of advice as drilling a hole in a new iPhone 7 to get the secret a headphone jack

Are the chips larger individually or only when stacked?

I thought I had a similar issue, but turned out many stickers for a group wasnt fully set and gave the stack an appearance of being thicker.

Once the stickers were pushed firmly in place, they were normal.

Unless something has changed, there are no guarantees that "real" chips will not have height issues between different batch runs, either.

I think it's safe to say that "real chips" such as paulsons, have significantly better quality control in terms of chip size, than China clays.

Are they a little bigger in circumference ? I got a bunch of chip key chains that are a little too big to hold the chips.

Slight thread jack question if I could . Doesn't some chip maker make 40mm chips ? Maybe Abiatti or something ? Anyone have any ?

I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread

I have my original set of $25-$1,000 value all the same thickness. I added a rack each of $1,000-$10,000. If I mix the 1ks each stack ends up different. All of the 5k and 10k are thicker but all the same as each other. Make sense?

As far as "real chips"..... thank you for your sound advice. I just googled "real chips" and they look delicious.

I mean this must be what you're talking about right? You certainly wouldn't mean I'm lesser of a person because I'm talking about chips that don't cost over $1/per.....are you? Because you'd be an asshole if that was the case. Good thing you're not.

Never said you were a lesser person, although I'm sure that's not what you meant either.... 'cuz then you'd be the asshole. Glad we cleared that up.

Fact: If uneven stack heights cause you distress, it can be easily corrected by buying real Paulson clay chips -- chip thickness is remarkably consistent from the factory..... and that's something you won't find with fake clay chips. You can either live with it, hope to get really lucky and find matching chips, or trade them in for something that doesn't tilt you.

I'd consider that pretty lucky.

I'd consider that a pretty common issue with most china clays.

All of the 5k and 10k are thicker but all the same as each other.
Also common.

Get real chips.
Common fix for your problem. Except for the calling people assholes part.

The fact that "real chips" are of higher quality is not lost on me. I have a owned and do still own some Paulsons. I was able to join in on the Horseshoe group buy. I work with 1,000s of Paulsons everyday. I'd agrue I've had more chips pass through my hands than 99% of chippers on this site. I also own some milanos with a thickness issue, and I happen to like milanos. They serve a purpose for me.

I'm sure you're not a bad guy, but unproductive comments are a buzz kill. I don't know you and I apologize if you took offense to the asshole comment. This is a hobby and should be fun. Honestly my bad.

I happen to love the picture of the Real Chips (potatoes). Hilarious!

I mean, Milanos aren't exactly make believe. They look real to me.

I play with Paulsons constantly, and while I like them more than ceramics (which I can't stand), I like Milanos more than Paulsons for a variety of reasons. One of the primary reasons being that they are have aligned their stickers with the chip texture--which appeases my OCD.

Also, the 1000 Milanos I bought, I didnt have issues with thickness (except for 1 single chip)--although they were a single batch. I did have some sticker issues though, where they'd be just barely off adjustment and not pressed firmly in.

The $10,000 ones were the only ones that had visible issues: coloration problems, misaligned sticker (just 1) and a very slight thickness difference in the same chip.

I simply pulled that $10,000 chip out and use it as a card weight in cash games.

You wouldn't believe the amount of players and dealers who ask me, "Is that a real chip?!" at each casino or poker room.

I should use your photo, and say, "No, these are 'Real Chips, and only 13g of carbs.'"

Lol!
