I started a Jumer's primary set and I've sourced primary 1's and lucky lady 1's for a .25 frac relabel. I am thinking of adding IG 5's instead of Jumer's primary or secondary 5's. I like the look better. What are your thoughts on this?

Very common practice.

Some tips I’ve picked up to keep it as consistent as possible while still being mixed…

1. Keep the mold the same (RHC in this example)

2. Keep the inlay color similar (all white for example. I tried mixing in a black inlay w my white inlays and several chippers downvoted it. Do what you like, but it’s nice to get feedback and understand the nuisances)

Mixed sets work for me, especially if the goal is to create something that you use and enjoy playing with. I am a purist for many things, just not poker chips (yet).

Mean-Girl PCF Answer: How could you!
Most Other PCF Answer: Sure as long as you don't mix molds!
Universal PCF Answer: It's fine but if you mix ceramics and clays in your set, you're dead to me!

Real Answer: Do what makes you happy and enjoy the process!

cool, make it happen, I prefer overlabels rather than killing, so you still have resale options
Now you’re talking about two different things, at least in my eyes. Mixed sets are sets that use chips from different casinos in their original state. Semi-custom sets use chips from different casinos but relabel them to all look the same.

Of course, there are no real rules; people should do whatever works and whatever makes them happy (notwithstanding a thread I once started, ranting that relabels don’t belong in mixed sets.)

Hell yeah. Mix and match. As long as it is clear what a chip's value is, then have at it. I prefer mixed sets, lets me change things up without replacing the whole set and I use chips I like, not chips that are part of the set.

I feel that way too

Hate em. Alright...I lied...LOL.

As long as the mold is consistent, I think they are AWESOME!!

One of my earliest posts was my propensity, and intent, to mix sets for gameplay often.

Lit some hair on fire with that one.

I’ve had as many as three different molded/manufactured chips in play during a session.

Mix it up!
