The picture looks a lot worse than the chip. These are new/unplayed and I only stacked on Unique racks 5 high, so I don't think that had anything to do with it. Great catch on the picture, and thanks for pointing it out. The nice thing is I have multiple racks, so this rack will end up on my playable sets now.Have these been sitting on the bottom with a lot of racks stacked on top of them?
I had a few too, I was able to buy some sample set to replace the ones I needed.Given how rare the stacking chips issue has proven to be, I bet this is just the general inconsistency in Paulson chips these days. I know my Tiger mint set straight from Ken had some flea bites and labels offset.
Cant' argue with you there, The quality control has definitely changed in recent years. All of these marks are top dead center in why I thought maybe stacking.Given how rare the stacking chips issue has proven to be, I bet this is just the general inconsistency in Paulson chips these days. I agree, had to happen on my end somehow. The marks don't lie...Cant' argue with you there, The quality control has definitely changed in recent years. All of these marks are top dead center in why I thought maybe stacking.
From experience my TP chips are a really tight fit in unique racks, especially stacking them. It's the main reason I converted to Justin racks.I agree, had to happen on my end somehow. The marks don't lie...
I am not part of the sale. They remain in chip boxes that GPI shipped them in on Ken’s end I am sure. Not sure how they get sorted before beeing sold. May be a hint @kk405 and @JeepologyOffroad to not stack them as high while sorting?
No. Wasn’t part of the vendor sale in the last one either. I only designed the chips. That is all.I thought you did somehow belong to that sale because you posted the pics in the other thread.
They need to throw some lead back into their newer chips. Would solve a lot of issues LolI will say that I received both these chips and also RPC almost immediately from the factory and slight warping, rough edges, occasional flea bites are a common occurrence. This is not an isolated incident with Tiger chips. Quality control at GPI. I remember noticing it immediately upon opening my RPC chips. Some batches less than others, but it is common for new Paulson chips unfortunately. Iirc I warned Ken about this before we received chips and he even paid extra for climate controlled shipping to try to mitigate this since it’s impossible to know if some of this stuff happens in transit or actually at the factory.

Same here... The canary chips that I brought had a lot of flea bites, thw aqua as well. I use Justin racks as well just to avoid further damage

GLWS!

I've had this discussion with many: the QC at GPI/Paulson is poor and probably getting worse every year. and the reality is this: no casino, pretty much none, cares about 'mint' chips from the factory having nicks and scratches or slight dings or various small imperfections. none. These are true head scratchers for many in the industry...as no one pays attention to or cares about them...except PCFers ...and GPI will not spent exorbitant (to them) sums of money to 'increase' their QC so that chipaholics get 'perfect' chips...it's just a reality we have to deal with...slightly warped, some nicks, scratches, misaligned/imperfect labels/inlays, and various other imperfections... just part of the Paulson good/bad.
I used two different types of racks for my own personal sets that are displayed and used in our games... depending on the chip, some can be tight, some can be just right... That even happens within the same 'set'...for example in the HS set, various colors/denoms can be very snug in the rack while other HS chips are just right... And we all know about the variation in weight of various Paulson colors, various denoms/colors seem to fit in the racks differently, at least based on my experience and the racks I use... which goes back to 'there is no such thing as perfection/perfect when it comes to new Paulson chips'... myriad of variations and differences... and I would never say that's what makes them great or 'they are clay, what else do people expect'... to each their own and depending on our level of OCD, we feel differently about this aspect of the new GPI/Paulson era. But for anyone who thinks that because these chips are 'factory fresh', means they are 'perfect', have no flea bites, nicks, scratches, etc....well, that's just not the reality.
And I agree with you... Justin racks are a great fit... I personally just don't like the lid/look.
Unlike all other NAGB endeavors, at a much higher cost, temperature controlled truck was used for transport, for fear of any excessive heat impacting the chips during their journey. They then were stored in a temperature controlled storage and office. The chips for sale have been kept in their original boxes, and sometimes unpacked and stored in cabinets, in their original boxes and not racks.

Just to add more food for thought...A while ago, Justin asked me 'how does GPI ship 43mm chips...do they have special Warneke boxes for 43mm chips vs. 39mm chips'...the answer was they do not... and you can refer to my comments above...neither they, nor their casino customers care as much as PCFers do about a few (or more) chips getting dinged/chipped... ...and this is how they pack 43mm and 48mm chips (in the same Warneke style box for 39mm chips) - I just pulled these three racks from an un-opened box... and they typically travel a very long distance going from origin to point of destination, wiggling and moving loosely in those boxes...so, take it for what it's worth: QC at GPI is not a high priority...moving their customers to plastic chips, is

Johns was not involved in the sale of the initial batch in 2023 and is not involved in the Final Chapter sale in 2024. He was the designer, has chips, and has been helping a lot with posting pictures.
