Trip Report VEGAS (Low Roll) - [Dec 29th 2024 - Jan 2nd 2025] New Years Eve with the Fam! (1 Viewer)

This trip was formed semi-hasty with the family. What started out as 10 people, went to 8 & and on Christmas day down to 6. AirBnB/flights booked and we're off! Even missing a few, we still had a BLAST! My brother hadn't been to Vegas since the very early 80s and he loved it.

Not alot of poker & although a bit delayed, I had to get this report in before the next one in about a month.

Day 1

Left Lambert and switched planes in PHX. Smooth flying so far. The rest of the family had a little earlier direct flight so we're catching up.

Guess what I thought when I looked up at this message board @k9dr ?

A little slots at the airport, lost this 20 and another waiting for the family to pick us up . . .

My brother in law (who we go to Vegas alot with) loves making this our first stop.

Spoiler: I don't mind.

Never been by here before, Liberaces former home, it's down near the airport in what I would call not the elites area. Cool visit, privately owned, no tours.

We get into the AirBnB and unpack, chill, develope a plan. Head way out west to Red Rock mostly to dine at Lotus of Siam but good gambling as a bonus.

We're on the 215 heading out and My brother, who hasn't been to here for 30+ years says, is this the strip? LOL.

Starti g in slots for a couple hours, running good!

Pre dinner cocktails!

Lisa's dinner

My dinner (naturally, Lisa prefers mine . . .)

Headed to the poker room, 4 of us sit down, 2 at 2 different tables, 4/8 limit.

Dusted off that rack drinking & having fun, reload and nearly dust the 2nd rack but I stack Lisa and get about 60 bucks (so -140).

We move to the pits.

Craps treats me real well! Run it up at the big boy table, lose a tiny back at roll-to-win.

A few more slots then back to the house.

Stayed up late, had a blast, won a little.

Was a great time last night, off to breakfast!

Almost an hour wait, but this will for sure fill me up for a bit

My brother wants to stop but we convince him it's a tourist trap and skip it.

My brother also wants to stop by "Counts Customs". I think I've heard of it from some reality show. Why not, basic tour is free and I've never been.

Off to the Orleans, H.O.R.S.E. tourney. Brother in law LOVES Razz (he's a sicko) so this is as close as it gets for him. Let's go !

And we're busto. Sister was out first followed by Lisa. Brother in law Ben hanging tough. Off to the pits. Double deck pitch, do t mind if I do.

Lisa's been at this table on the original $100 for well over an hour. Aside from her expression she's in her zone and having a good time!

Break even so off to the craps table.

Small win but these players are taking forever placing bets and have no clue. Craps has really gained ALOT of popularity the last year or so, it's hard to even get a spot sometimes and the game is so slow as people are learning.

Takes forever to find my sister in the slots, finally do and join her for a bit.

stick $20 in here and manage a great bonus a few spins in just before heading back to the house

New years eve, let's have some fun!

Picking up where I left off, forgot to include the midnight entertainment, open mic JAZZ night @ The Hard Hat lounge. It's been pre covid since we've come here. A locals lounge always a good time.

Went ahead and grabbed some butchers with tots, beers and cocktails!

Ok, back to today, we head down to the strip so my brother can see and we intend to catch the Bellagio fountains that he's never seen. Head to the Linq Promenade for some dining.

Settle on Chayo Mexican / Tequila bar.

Tequila sunrise? It's 5 o'clock somewhere right?

This breakfast is out of this world, we will definitely be coming back here.

Off to O'sheas. Remember when they used to have a little Leprechaun that would run around with bottles dispensing drinks? Those were the days . . .

Craps it is while my sister luckboxes a triple up at UTH!

More slots while we all roam around, my brother and his girlfriend are getting into the player club and using free bets!

On the walk back south, I take them through the Flamingo garden.

We get into front of the fountains just in time to watch the show,

Head back to the house to get dressed and head to dinner, reservations @ 7:00

Dining at one of my absolute favorites,Top of Binions Steakhouse, amazing as usual!

Great time with family here!

Part 2, New Years Eve

Tableside Crème brûlée, yep, delicious!

1/2 the crew go back to the car to change shoes then we all head to the home of Hawaiian shirts, The California.

Start off with some craps.

Running good

Off to the slots with Lisa,

Bink $200 on Pinball !

Head down Fremont to Four Queens

Some country singer kicking it, seems popular

Only the tub craps and it's closed. . . On New Years Eve

But my favorite slots in the whole world is open (like always) 9 cents a spin, endless Modelos.

Afterr losing a buck fifty (no, literally $1.50) head over to some other slots with Lisa

Can't be here and not grab a couple Silver Strikes

Pick up a new hat with comp points, nice!

At dinner Donnie invited us back to watch the fireworks private party from the restaurant after closing #blessed, we get 2 bottles of sparkling and enjoy an amazing show. We could see down the strip but the synchronized fireworks off the Strat and Resorts was amazing !

Slots and a walk down to El Cortez to gamble.

It's 3 a.m., Yikes, until tomorrow!

Final day, late start, but no better way than to hit up my favorite pizza downtown!

Evel Pie!

Come out of lunch to a bunch of lowriders rolling up Fremont, cool watch.

Another "check box" item for my brother, stop by Gold & Silver pawn shop, from Pawn Stars reality show. Been here a couple times before and don't even go in, another major tourist trap. Brother and his girlfriend are getting the tour bus tour lol.

We've used to stay at the Strat and they send comps non stop, stop in so my brother can go to the top, we gamble. Crapless tub, let's go!

Fun but lose most of it over a couple hours, let's try bubble. . .

Up & down like a roller coaster, lose some more. . . Off to Blackjack.

Another $100 down, it seems my run good is over for the trip. I track down Lisa o. The slots and she forces me to sit at this one which is "due" and APs have been circling like vultures.

Bink ? I don't know . . .

Back to Blackjack, Lisa lives it but is tighter than me, luckily they have $10 6/5

We round everyone up, take my brother, girlfriend & brother in law back to house. My sister, Lisa & I head to our final stop, Sahara.

Lots of gambling but we start with Noodle Den, a favorite.

Guess i missed a photo op @ craps, breakish even, on to slots. Lisa and my sister disappear cause we're supposed to meet early to head back. Part of the family fly out @ 6 am.

Their still in hiding, getting some degen on.

Nowhere to be found, they're milking it. . . Last night, who could blame them.

I finally track them down, nearly 2 hours after when we were supposed to leave, i don't care, our flight is at 1:00 so we have plenty of time to sleep. I park here and tell them come get me when your done (another 2 hours later lol).

Lose small, good time killer.

And with that, another GREAT trip in the books! Everyone had a blast, my brother was a bit overwhelmed but still had a ton of fun.
