Election stressing me out - so sat down with my increasing chip and sets accumulation and did some measurements. Brought on by very small differences in chip thickness and several Lowe wooden trays that are not going together well. Ultimately it seems the older chips have far less consistent manufacturing tolerances, and even as beat up as the Horseshoes are - they are far more closer to each other than the essentially unplayed TRK's are. Measured with my handy-dandy reloading micrometer. Hope others find it interesting as well. If you (for some perverse reason) need the data - I will gladly send you the Excel spreadsheet.
I received 160 additional TRK Small Crown chips marked MGM which are my initials! Could not resist the opportunity to measure them as well. Table below has the details – but here are some (perhaps) interesting numbers of the 100 chips measured from each group.
Also – the weight is different – by 0.5 grams. Weighed 300 McD’s and 100 MGM. I was surprised, even more so that I “think” I can tell the difference! Should make a pile and sort blindfolded and see if I am making it up.
I have the measurement table for the MGM chips if interested
