Hi folks.

I'm looking at building a 5 ft round table (maybe slightly bigger, 5'6) and I'm trying to source the various bits and pieces.

I can get the table off eBay and this includes folding metal legs (this is the link I'm looking at, though there are other options https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5ft6-Round-Wooden-Banqueting-Table-Folding-Wishbone-American-Legs-Plywood-168cm/182553189694?hash=item2a81049d3e:g:HHgAAOSwOdNXP1rM)

These guys also do a slightly more manageable 5 ft table, but that's plastic so would bring it's own problems... Do you folks see a plastic table as being an issue? If so, what are the problems?

I have no idea what my options are for the rail padding and the table foam. Can anyone in the UK recommend a product and/or a dealer for rail vinyl, table surface (not neccesarily SSC), rail foam and table foam? Also I've read here that SSC is pretty tough and can withstand a lot of tugging, which I can imagine is going to be handy as most widths of the stuff aren't quite 5 ft, or are exactly 5 ft.

I don't know about rail width yet, but I can imagine I'll base that on how much "bare space" there is with the speedcloth on...

If anyone says "just get a Chanman table" they will be legally bound to buy me one and ship it to me free of charge :p

Closed cell foam and vinyl are often used in boat apolstery, so try googling marine apolstery. There has to be a vendor of that stuff in the UK...

Cloth has to come from across the Atlantic, either a custom one by Chan or original (not Chinese) SST, preferably from Your Auto Trim. It's not that hard for a cloth to fly:)

Vinyl, foam, cupholders etc: car upholstery and trim stores, fabric stores, boat and yachting stores and, yes, poker stores.

Last, but not least, if you 're not really crafty, get a carpenter friend ASAP, no matter the friendly and precise advice that you 'll be given here.
My 2 (continental) cents:)
