Honey is a browser extention to give discounts to tons of items across the web. The premise is that they are supposed to scour the web for discount codes so you don't have to...just install the extension and they do it for you. Except what they were actually doing was stealing affiliate links.

What is supposed to happen is that when you click an Amazon link on a website, they often get a small percentage of not just that sale, but all the items you purchase during that session. What the Honey extention is doing is secretly bypassing the affiliate and taking the credit (and percentage) of the sale instead. Beyond shady, and I hope the class-action lawsuit coming their way is a big one.

On top of this (and even worse for you directly) is that they don't really "search the internet for the best coupons so you don't have to."

Instead, they allow vendors to set the terms of the coupons that they offer. So there might be a 20% off coupon somewhere on line that you could find with a little Googling, but if Honey has an agreement to only show a 5% off coupon with that particular vendor, that's all you'll see.
