Two Pair
As some of you probably know, I've been looking for about 150 dark blue $1 or NCV equivalent PCRs to complete a set I am trying to put together. There is an eBay seller that has 2 sets of 100 assorted PCRs up for BIN. One set is denominated set -- 30 -$1s, 25-$5s, 20-$25s, 10-$100s 5-$500s, 5-$1000s and 5 NCV Greys. The other is a non-denominated set -- 40-$ dark blues, 30 greens (like the $25s) and 30 blacks (like the $100s).
I could probably grab them both for $350-360, but my hesitation is that I don't really need the greens/$25s, blacks/$100s of any of the higher denoms. Moreover, Josh at Apache is selling the Grey NCVs and the $1000s for $.99 each (which I told the seller who responded that was because no one wants to build a set around those particluar colors/denoms). About two months ago, I bought Josh out of the $1 blues he had and he charged me $1.29/ea including shipping. So I'm wondering if the eBay seller is overpricing these. Are they as valuable as the correspoding colored Worlds which I know are probably worth about $2/chip?
The thing is I haven't seen a lot of these on eBay and no one of PCF (or Chiptalk) has recently sold any of these, nor responded to my Wnat to Buy requests. My other hesitation is that even if I do buy these (and maybe resell the higher denominations), I still need more blues/$1s because there are only 70 total in the lot.
