Versa 1000 case don’t fit Matsui racks (1 Viewer)

Just posting it here for reference to the forum. I was hoping the Matsui racks would fit the new Versa 1000 piece pseudo birdcages but they don’t. I really love the Versa cage for its small footprint and multiple locks. I was trying go to avoid doing the massive Pelican style cases.

Can you give more detail on the case in the photo? would that would normally hold 1000 chips?

This. Yes they fit normal 39mm racks perfectly.

Glad I saw this. Was just about to order one. I’ll just stick with the Nanuk 930 cases...

No they have 43mm racks as well, i.e Chipco 43mm ones. Those also don't fit in any bird cage including this one. The Matsui's supposedly fit the regular transparent birdcages. That's why I bought them to try out on these Versa birdcages.

For me it's fine though, I can use the Matsui's to store chips in the cabinet. I'll think of another solution for transporting 1000+ chips that have a mix of 39mm and 43mm chips.

@Ken is printing some 43mm racks like these for me. 80 chips only, but will stack on 39mm racks. Might be an option...

Yes I actually bought a set of Cleveland's from Ken and he included two for me. They are very nice. However, I think you should sandpaper the inside a bit. There are places inside that is quite rough, and I am scared to scratch my expensive Paulson's on it. I think a bit of sandpaper will smooth it out just fine though.

The racks are made out of plastic (PLA specifically). All casino grade chips are harder than this plastic. It is possible to scratch a chip but it is very unlikely.

The roughness is actually layer lines inside the chip tunnels where the chips rest. They are 0.2mm wide and made from melted and squished plastic. They aren't exactly sharp. Sanding them definitely makes them smoother but removes the plastic shine, if that matters to you. The edges on the bottom are likely to be a little sharper. I usually run a de-burrer on the edges to smooth them out and take off the sharpness. Again, sanding helps. Use 400 grit or higher depending on your preference and patience.

Most chip racks you have used are injection molded plastic which comes out smooth as the mold used is smooth on the inside.
