I'm looking for advise on the approximate value of a chip set that I purchased on craigslist a few years ago.

These chips are MD-45 (LGSQUR) Mold chips.

After some research it appears that these chips were sold to Charles Lambert in the mid 1960's by Jones Bros.

Jones Bros., New Orleans, LA. Most of their chips went to the New Orleans area, the remainder mostly going to nearby Southern states.

He purchased four chip sets from 1965 to 1967.

The set has 117 red, 141 green, and 81 yellow chips.

Anyone have any idea of approximate value here?

I may be looking to post them on eBay for sale to use the money towards a new set of chips soon.

Well, I'm guessing they're worth at least (if not more than) what you paid for them off CL

To an average buyer, probably $100-$150, with a top-end price of about $200 to a niche collector. They'll obviously be worth more to someone with the right initials, and the fact that you have the provenance on them will increase the value for some collectors, but so far as I'm aware there's nothing particularly noteworthy about the owner - just a dude that bought some monogrammed chips. They appear to be in well-used to average condition, and from the middle picture it appears that not all the red chips are of the same shade. The breakdown is also a bit rough, and the fact that it's not on a mold commonly found today means buyers can't necessarily easily add onto it. Might be easier to sell them as three head's up tournament sets and a few singles rather than as a lot - and potentially a bit more lucrative, too. I'd sell them in 100pc lots with viable heads-up breakdowns and aim for $50/lot (being prepared to drop in price if they don't move), and see if a few of the better quality singles can't be sold on eBay either individually or as sample sets to help add onto the total revenue.

Good info and advice above. My guesstimate would be about $0.25 each because of breakdown and lack of expansion possibilities.

There was a 600 chip HHR hot stamp solid set that I was bidding on that went for $137 plus shipping the other night. That set had a much better breakdown in a common mold still available to give you a point of reference.

I value these at $0.10 to $0.25 each. Due to the small set size, maybe the value is closer to a dime each.

I don't buy chips like these, so perhaps a more knowledgeable collector could offer up a better estimate.

Thanks for the advice.

Most of the chips appear to be heavily used, especially the red ones. I have about 17 red ones that appear to be closer to the original color. The green chips also have 48 chips that look like brand new and we're never used at all.

Would cleaning and oiling the faded chips help bring some color back and possibly add some value?

I tried to breakdown three heads up sets (40, 40, 20) but came up 3 short on red chips with 22 yellow and 20 green left over.

Any other suggestions on possible breakdowns to make 3 heads up sets?
