Hi there, I’m the new guy. I’ve wandered through here over the years, but haven’t had cause to really join in the fun until two friends of mine decamped to the Pacific Northwest and I inherited a home game. I’m content to play with dice chips as a guest, but as a host I cannot allow it – I’ve ate of the forbidden fruit.
Designing a personal set has long been the plan, but I’ve also known for just as long that I don’t understand the history and traditional well enough to carry it off, just yet – it’s a process. I was awfully concerned to learn of the CPC winding-up. Had I missed my chance!? Let me tell you, it was a relief to hear that a buyer’s been found to carry it on the work.
(aside: traditional print-making is another fascination of mine. The mystery (and labor) of the process makes me think of punchcutting)
In the meantime, I am very happy with vintage clay. IMHO, Starbursts are awfully elegant and the project of assembling a working set in the deep, rich hues I love is underway (@DZPoker is an inspiration).
