Utilizing T25 chips

Starting stack as some configurations of 12 T25 and 12 T100 + whatever

You want the tourney to end in 5 hours max

Blinds could start at 50-100

What do you think the “most” chips you could start with, without TOTALLY diminishing the value of T25s?

20K?

@BGinGA need a veterans take ;-)

It depends on the length of the levels, the largest jump you are willing to take between levels, and the number of players. My "deepest" tournament runs 4.5-5 hours, and starts at 1000 BB. Each level jump is between 50% and 100% the previous level (20 minute levels). It's a base 500 tournament so I didn't post the schedule, but I think you get the jist.

Biggest T25-base stacks I've regulary started with were 30k (50/100 blinds, or 300bb). 40k @ 50/100 would be 400bb, which seems excessive for a non-aggressive structure.

For 25/50 starting blinds, I'd say 15k stacks (300bb)... although we do 20k (but with antes). That and the 30k above both go <5 hrs with 16 players.

Great replies thx everyone. 30k is plenty of chips for a splashy T25 tourney. Glad that’s not too many.

Trying to figure out what or if anymore chips r needed for my tourney sets.

Usually 20 min levels. Sometimes I’m goofy and do 22 min levels. Currently no BBA.

Oh, and our season-ending free-roll Championship Tournament has stacks ranging from 20k to sometimes as large as 60k (20/20/15/10+). Typical average stack is around 34k.

Now we're getting into @grantc54 's chip denoms!
I hit that level by the end of the tournament last week!

With the usual structure (below), minimum 20 minute blind levels and including 2x10 minute breaks, you get to the 4K/8K level. Multiply by 20, and you can have up to T160K in play to end in approximately 5 hours. This is T20K for up to 8 players, T16K for 10, or T10K for 16 if you want to run 2 tables.

What if I wanted T20k for 2 tables? W rebuys until the first break. What adjustment would you make?

I would reduce levels to 15 minutes add add a few more levels to the bottom.
