What is considered the best/rarest poker chip style you can purchase on PCF (1 Viewer)

Leaded THCs. They are top tier. Past that, it's all second place.
Yes, and of course leaded TRKs run neck and neck with them, (and are actually more rare, I’d say) depending on how cultish you are.
Outside of that, the significant distinctions would be which casino the chips came from. And you could discuss that for days.

Yeah. I can't afford TRKs. That's just a dream to me. Hahaha

1. Leaded THCs. Popular type of chips no longer made because of birth defects.
I know you're being funny, but lets be clear, we haven't read of any reported health issues stemming from the lead content of poker chips. Lead was removed from poker chips either in an abundance of caution or more likely from pressure from wacky places like California. But unless you're chewing on them, leaded poker chips are not a concern. Though I suppose if I had young kids in the house, I'd think about it.

Of things that reliably show up it's got to be Leaded THC or TRK. There are actually rarer things that pop up from time to time (Christie, B&G, certain other mold pre Paul-son clays, etc.) but they are, uh, rare.

I dont want to get too far into this line but a good friend of mine is completing his dissertation on lead and its relation to developmental differences and it makes my stomach hurt, spent way too much time digging literature with him. Youre right, none of them mention poker chips, but certainly paint or toy material.

I don't hate the abundance of caution; not saying id throw away lead chips but I cant say it wouldnt come to mind if I had a newborn. Just more handwashing like we should already. You're not chewing them but we all know some poker players that are gross animals, either licking their hands counting bills or grabbing a hot dog without washing after. We cant trust people to be clean and not idiotic lol.

Just adding that this is all said to explain why Im more paranoid than most, but you're right.

Chinese-made ceramics manufactured by Tina, no question. Can be ordered with any design you want (copy-protected casino art preferred), and they cost just pennies (okay, forty pennies). They are THE BEST.

And who ARE you other people hawking old, used, and fragile chips containing dangerous heavy metals -- do you not have your finger on the pulse of the forum?

I think some of us here are walking examples of these birth defects. I mean....

What are your views on Paulson Classics? I thought those would be mentioned, but hadn't seen anything on them yet. Are they 2nd tier?

Leaded Paulsons circa 1990. Made in Las Vegas. (there was no NAFTA yet to encourage moving the factory to Mexico) The company had existed for over two decades at that point, with more color choices than ever before. There was no RHC mold. Gambling had begun to expand in the USA to Colorado, Mississippi, South Dakota, Iowa, and other states. They were making their best chips ever, even for the home market, and plenty of them. Chips from that time will do nothing but appreciate.

Yea those are not top tier, but a damn good chip. That’s a Paulson mold. It says PAULSON. Similar to a casino mold.

Damn good chip compared to non-Paulson alternatives? Sure. But a lot of chippers hate those things and refer to the mold as the advertising mold. Personally I’d still rather have the advertising mold than the RHC mold, but opinions . . . amirite
