I've just been browsing through the customs forum and I've noticed a few sets have a primary and secondary version of some denominations. Is there an actual need for this or is it simply because MOAR CHIPS?

Ben book for Missouri requirements for primary and secondary:

PURPOSE: This rule establishes the requirement for having primary, secondary, and reserve sets of gaming chips.

(1) Unless otherwise authorized by the commission, each Class B licensee shall have a primary set of value chips, a primary set of nonvalue chips, a separate secondary set of value chips, and a separate reserve set of nonvalue chips which shall conform to the color and design specifications set forth in 11 CSR 45-5.100. An approved secondary set of value chips or reserve nonvalue chips shall be placed into active play whenever the primary set is removed.

(A) The secondary set of value chips shall have different secondary colors than the primary set and shall be required for all denominations.

(B) Each holder of a Class B license shall have a reserve set of nonvalue chips for each color utilized with a design insert or symbol different from those nonvalue chips comprising the primary set.

(C) The holder of a Class B license shall remove the primary set of gaming chips from active play whenever-

1. A determination is made by the licensee that its gaming operation is taking on a significant number of counterfeit chips;
2. Any other impropriety or defect in the utilization of the primary set of chips makes removal of the primary set necessary; or
3. The director so directs.

(D) Whenever the primary set of chips is removed from active play, the licensee shall immediately notify a representative of the commission as to the reason for this occurrence.

I can't help but feel that this is the way...
I think I'd be more likely to create another different set than to make secondary chips for the same set. But if you think it's the way, go for it right now. There's no reason to think CPC will be around forever, and there are plenty of people with plenty of regrets from not ordering from the last two clay chip companies when they could have. Now there's only one left, and I don't want to speculate how many more years they'll stay in business, but I'd probably bet the under.

@upNdown , would you like me to design a CPC set for you?
Honestly.
Edit: when it comes to chips. For labels, others are in charge.

Thanks, no. I paid an artist to do that a couple of years ago. But I’m just not very interested in owning multiple expensive sets for the same purpose. And I only have one purpose these days.

In my case, I had the first batch of chips made on the “Suits” mold then a year or so later I wanted to add on but that mold was no longer available to me. I then decided to make a complementary set that would be separate, but would work with the first set, giving me secondary chips, but practically a larger set.
