I remember seeing these hot stamped Argosy chips for sale at the Paulson retail store many years back, but they were not drilled and cut. I actually bought some and tested methods of removing the gold foil on them. Who is defacing the chips? Did Paulson do it sometime after I was there in 2000(ish)?

I thought that the story was that someone removed the overstamp with nail polish remover or whatever when the chips were first removed, since the "new" argosy chips looked very much like the old ones (the new ones just had different wording but still had the hot air balloon on them). They tried to play/cash in these chips. They got caught. This got back to Paulson who decided to cancel and drill so that these would never be used again.
I have a bunch and they do not feel like any other Paulsons I know. I think after going through the stamping and drilling process numerous times they got very "dense' is the right word.

Aw this is a shame. Some people are dishonest through and through. Chips are needlessly defaced :/
