She did try. Never heard of these before but they are clearly El cheapo plastic. They even tried to use the Paulson logo. Tsk tsk.

I searched for the brand Poker Parlor on the forums but Google clearly shows its a pos set.

Question of the day is if you bought her some jewelry from Kmart would she being telling people "at least he tried"? :D
He's only been a member for a few weeks. If my wife tried that shit, I'd buy her a purse from the Dollar Store.

"Oh, you wanted Louis Vuitton? Lewey Viton is just as good, right?"

She is a bit spoiled in the jewelry department, mostly because she isn't demanding about it. I usually buy local or source from Etsy. It's saved me cash, given me quality and made her happy.

FWIW, I'm sure she will want to play too. She's already volunteered to help make the side tables

My wife knows better than to buy me a gift like poker chips without checking with me first. She sticks to clothes.

I had a friends wife ask me for advice on a set for a him as a birthday present. I asked her budget and sent her links to Apache or someone that had a sale going on for China Clay chips. I give set breakdown advice and everything.

His birthday rolls around and he says he got poker chips from his wife and wants to have a game. I'm all excited until he pulls out this crap:

Of course he has to act like he loves them to her. All I want to do puke all over the table and keep asking myself why the F ask for my help and waste all my time if she is going to buy this junk off Amazon!!!

And she bought some stupid pre-made set with several useless denominations on top of it.
