The router started throwing sparks! Was worried that there was a nail in the plywood but closer inspection showed that the bearing had failed on the cheap router bit.

Anyway, two top shapes cut out and it’s too damn hot out here so I’m off to beer & barbecue and will pick back up tomorrow.

Checking rope lights for length. I think this is enough for today. I need to order some suede and find some clips to hold the rope lights in place.

Very cool! I’m now seriously thinking on buying some wood tools :sneaky:

Back at it - need to finish today! Starting with the top pad...

I’m sure I didn’t see this in time, but please don’t use rope lights... you can snag super cheap strips of LEDs that hav a remote, change colors, and dim.... for like $25. The LEDs don’t get hot, and they last forever... I have used a ton of rope lighting in my home... a ton! But I have sections that have burned out, and the lights get warm, use up way more energy, and typically cost as much if not more....

Vinyl step one! This is exhausting even with a pneumatic nailer. Time for a break...

Hmm... mine are LED rope lights. I bought them for Christmas but they’re blue and my wife hates them so no cost! I can also replace with strip LEDs later. I’m actually thinking of adding translucent dice as a rail eventually.

If you bought a boat load of casino dice, cut them in half, then used them as a diffuser, that’d be cool!

But, LED strips are so cheap, I’d just do that from the start imho.

Cut them in half! What a masterful idea - I was groaning at the cost of 300 dice... now I only need 150.

Now, what color dice... blue?

Your felt is blue... I’d go with someone different. But then practice with a few colors. Maybe get clear-ish dice colors. That way it’ll interact better with multi color LEDs
